Molina is a huge lost for the Cards. Not just his hitting or even his defense, but his handling of the staff. Those pitchers have had him as a security blanket for years. His lose affects all of those pitchers.

I agree, but after throwing 9 shutout innings his last time out, I still would have taken him out after 7 with a slew of lefties coming up and us having 3 good left handed relievers.

 

And I've been saying he was our ace all year, just by a shade though, not much of a difference between he, Lohse, Yo and Peralta, except he and Peralta can be more dominant.

Nice job RR. With 1b open and a lefty on deck, why would you pitch to Rollins there?? I know it's Utley, but come on. Play the odds. Smith has been terrific against lefties. This was a game we couldn't afford to lose.
