Always find these situations funny, management guts the team knowing it's going to lose. Fires the manager when it loses. I haven't followed it closely at all though, maybe he wants no part of the teardown/rebuild they're doing. Was just speaking in general as you see this type of thing all the time.

Fredi's been on the hot seat for a few years as his teams have collapsed a few times at the end of the season. However, I agree that it doesn't make sense when teams that are obviously rebuilding fire a guy before the end of the downswing.

Purposely create a god-awful team. Fire manager when team is god-awful.

The two had nothing to do with each other imo.

Apparently he figured out he was getting fired when he received a travel alert that he had a flight scheduled from Pittsburgh back to Atlanta on Tuesday... which was right in the middle of their road trip.

I don't think it has much to do with how well the team is playing as it does the manager being the wrong guy for what the team wants going forward.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Maybe, maybe not, but he's not the first guy to suffer that fate. Dale Sveum, Rick Renteria, Brad Mills, Ryne Sandberg and Bo Porter were all doomed to the same fate. They all took jobs understanding they weren't trying to contend and they all accomplished that. Joe Maddon wasn't around when the Cubs stunk.

No Hispanic coaches left after this. Then again most managers are ex players and Hispanic representation in the league 15-20ish? years ago was pretty low if memory serves.
