If Villar plays well for a month and a half, I will give him his just due, trust me. I would like very much for him to play well for a month and a half. No one is rooting for him to fail.

 

yup, the love will come back pretty quickly if he actually starts helping the team win games.

 

There wasn't a ton of love a year ago when he was raking. People have poked a part his game since he has been here.

 

Last year, the part of his game that got poked apart was his asinine baserunning mistakes. Hasn't been as big of an issue this year though, because the guy never gets on base... Not that he hasn't made the same base running mistakes when he has been on, that is for certain, but fewer only because he doesn't get on base.

Yeah except he was the setup man for most of the year and has 11 holds. Considering a blown save counts the same whether its a hold or a save he's going for he's 15/18

Yes, absolutely. Very good players tend to get less harsh attitudes and more tolerance and crappy players get harsher attitudes and less patience.

I'm not even advocating removing Knebel but at what point is it not okay for him to cost us games? What's your breaking point on a closer? I guess we'll never know how many Feliz would have racked up but he did come through 8 of 9 times.

So now you speak for a lot of posters? Give me a break. This board is getting into a very bad habit of tearing down anyone who has a differing opinion. My thoughts didn't attack anyone individually. It only pointed out that some players get butchered, sometimes for little things, while a guy like Knebel blows a game (3BS) and not a peep about him.

 

I've seen others say it's because Villar just makes so many mistakes and all that and I accept their opinion and would've easily moved on. You just decided to be not to nice to me for really no reason other than we disagree.

Extra innings. Knebel's blown save is getting a lot of attention, but wasting the lead off double in the 8th inning needs to be brought forward. 3 Ks with a runner on 2nd seems to be a little too routine for this team.
