Tommy Pham to Tampa

Pham isn't a 'Cardinal Way' kind of player. He isn't afraid to speak his mind or criticize the organization - amongst other things.

His sub-par season is a perfect excuse for the Cardinals to get rid of him.

I'm sure Dexter Fowler would be gone too if they could find a taker for his big contract.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times tweets that the Rays will send outfielder Justin Williams, left-hander Genesis Cabrera and right-hander Roel Ramirez to the Cardinals in exchange for Pham and international bonus allotments.

Pham is proving to be a one year wonder, he's 30 so he's reached his peak and is possibly on the downside of his career, and throw in his open criticism of the front office so not really surprised the Cards dumped him for whatever they could.

Tommy refused a multi year deal at the end of last season. He was by far the team's MVP. He miscalculated. His bad base running (getting picked off, caught stealing, getting nailed at 3B trying to stretch a dbl. all seemed to come at the worst times) Reduced power, low BA too.

He could get away with bucking the FO when he was a star. He's FAR from that now. Being traded to the Rays in the AL East has to be one of the most brutal destinations for a man that wants to win. FO payback?

Now if they could figure out a way to move fowler.

Really didn't think the Cards were any good this year, but I'm glad they believed in all their fluke careers years from last year and doubled down on a weak core. Gonna be fun watching them flounder for years.

Somehow they keep bringing up pitching, I'll believe they're not competitive when I see it. Not saying playoffs every year or anything but I don't see them bottoming out.

Seem to be clearing house of the non-Cardinal Way types...can' be outspoken and tell the truth on that team. Of course last time that happened to Rasmus and they shipped him out for a brand new bullpen that won them a WS.

You're not far off. The franchise is flawed from top to bottom. Pixie dust eventually blows away.
