Per Jeff Passan the Dodgers just made a bullpen upgrade...

 

Right-hander Blake Treinen is in agreement with the Los Angeles Dodgers on a one-year, $10 million deal, sources tell ESPN. Treinen had multiple offers in that range and chose the Dodgers.

Wasn't 10 million his arbitration estimate? Would think the Dodgers would have traded the A's a nothing prospect to put Treinen on their roster and keep him off the market where someone else might have snagged him.

 

I wanted Treinen but wouldn't have gone nearly this high for him.

He's coming off a very rough year. That's a lot of money handed to a bounce back gamble.

 

Imagine if the Dodgers spent the same money but spent it wisely like MKE does. They'd destroy everyone yearly.

This is them spending their money wisely. They can throw this kind of money at a guy and hope he's more 2018 than 2019 and if he fails it costs them relatively little. The Brewers can't risk spending $10M on a guy and hope he performs. And this is really where the financial disparity of baseball sucks. Not that the small market teams can't sign the big time free agents but that they can't take an expensive gamble on a guy like Treinen.
