Wild card weekend game discussion

We couldn't stop the Eagles offense in the loss this year and Wilson has been an interception machine against the Pack at times. I am not rooting for either, will just watch and see where it falls.

I'd have more respect for Riveron if he just stated the rule should have never been made and they dont want to be final judge and jury on anything short of a blatantly obvious play that is as bad or worse than that one in last years nfc title game.

I expected that to get reviewed and maybe overturned if for no other reason than the NFL owed New Orleans one....

Nah, makeup calls are only in baseball. In the NFL, the league is all about telling the fans not to believe reason and their own eyes. Hence, "we did review it [in only 10 seconds] and determined there was nothing that rises to a foul on the basis of visual evidence [that we care to explain to you peons]." We've always been at war with Eastasia...

And I'm sure they reviewed that play because they review every scoring play. So they reviewed OPI on that play...right?

I still prefer the college overtime rules to the NFL but would like to see college rule but no kicks in overtime.

No extra points and no field goals. Everything is a touchdown and a two-point conversion

To be honest I am fine with them not reviewing it since I think that was a dumb rule anyway that hopefully will not be renewed. I would say that was worse than the alleged Drew Pearson push off though. :)

I hate college overtime. I don't see much wrong with the NFL. Once they eliminated going 30 yards and kicking a FG to win I was fine with it.

I think the overtime coin toss is the weirdest thing in all of major sports. It's still a huge advantage to win it. I think the college type shootout is the way to go although I did hate it at first.

I can understand ths outrage over the no-call in the Saints/Rams game last year, but this one, come on. That would have been a really weak call on Rudolph.

Anyway, could the Packers lose to the Seahawks or Eagles next week? Yes, absolutely. But the toughest team not named the 49ers in the NFC just got eliminated and our chances of making the Super Bowl just went up as a result, that is the bottom line.

Plus, I do think Minnesota has a pretty reasonable shot of knocking off the 49ers, certainly more so than the Eagles would. Which I think is the only chance we'll be playing beyond the NFC championship. So again, ugh, go Vikes. They'll play 2 playoff games before we even play our first.

At least there isn't going to be a ton of insufferable Taysom Hill hot takes all week now.

Taysom Hill will be the Saints starting quarterback next season.

And by week 8 people in New Orleans will be clamoring for Trevor Lawrence to be their 2021 starting qb.

I'm not a fan of college overtime because it doesn't resemble what you just watched for three hours. People have this reverence for it but I think it's dumb. It would be like an NBA game going to H-O-R-S-E in overtime.

Now that the seahawks can't play san fran next week, I want them to win this game. Something about philly doesnt make me like the matchup with the packers.

I also like the thought of them flying all the way across the country to/from philly and then jumping forward two time zones to play in freezing weather the very next week against a rested packer team.

I agree with this and I think that he should be. It's not a "hot take" when the guy has been consistently doing this for a couple years now.

I would agree with that take. I don't know what the answer is however, but I think whatever solution MUST include both offenses touching the ball.

Over / Under on # of times announcers mention Taysom Hill was released by the Packers next week: 3.5. Over / Under on # of times BF.net posters mention Taysom Hill was released by the Packers next week: 33.5. I’m not looking forward to the Jared Cook comments either.

Since they could easily be playing the seahawks or eagles next week, I'll go with the under

I honestly counted the Vikings out. They are my least favorite team and I found myself rooting for them because local sports talk radio would have been insufferable this week with all the Taysom Hill / Jared Cook talk.

Mike McCarthy’s playoff record with Aaron Rodgers is 9-7. Sean Peyton’s playoff record with Drew Brees is 8-7. Virtually identical playoff records, each with a future HOF QB and a Super Bowl win, yet most NFL fans hold Sean Peyton in higher regard. Why is that?

I fully expect the Vikings to beat the Niners and the Packers to win and then lose to the Vikings in the NFC championship game because that would be the most painful way to get knocked out of the playoffs.

Anti-Midwest bias, and McCarthy’s appearance. Just my two cents.
