Coming into tonight (Link)...

Last 7 starts by Reds pitchers:

41 IP, 25 H, 10 BB, 54 K, 4 HR, 1.76 ERA

They haven't allowed more than 2 runs in any of those 7 starts.

Again, was hoping to be wrong but I wasn’t here. Houser is a dumpster fire right now and shame on Counsell, Stearns and Co for going this route. What a shame.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

They have solid arms in the rotation but they also probably have the best pitching coach in baseball right now.

Jace Peterson and Eric Sogard are both starting? Does Counsell want to lose this game? This is like the lineups he set for most of the season when we could barely get a hit.

One problem is they are sort of stuck at this point with needing to get as many innings as possible out of Houser tonight despite his shaky performance early. With 5 games against the Cardinals in the next 4 days including Friday’s doubleheader they’ll likely avoid unloading their best long relief and bullpen options.

So is Urias just completely relegated to the bench now?

I think so. It’s weird to me that in the span of one week they went from Counsell calling him the shortstop of the future to basically avoiding him completely.

Not a great sign that the organization would rather play Sogard and Peterson.

Both them and Arcia, who Urias is supposed to be pushing at SS.

Maybe Urias will be good next year and we can get something out of Lauer but that trade coud not possibly look any worse as of today.

Well it could actually look worse. Grisham has cooled off considerably and Davies came a bit back down to earth last night (albeit not a terrible outing).

Just turned on the game , down 2 , a ball that was called a strike ( can't wait for automated strike zone ) and three weak at bats. Another fabulous start for the crew. Still early though.

It doesn't say much for Urias if he can't play everyday for this team.

What did Yelich do on his first ab ? Walk again or strikeout .

Struck out... Garcia got thrown out at 2B in the middle of the Yelich AB.
