Absences for upcoming games...

This sucks, but it looks like I'll be missing the last two games of the season. July 5th I have a dinner for my grandparents' 50th anniversary and July 12th I'll be on vacation in Michigan. I'm praying for rain so we have one more game after the 12th. Doesn't seem right to not be there for the final game of the year -- I think last year too I missed our final game due to some shenanigans.

Just got my call schedule for July and looks like I am on for the 12th which especially sucks cause it is our last game...so, just letting everyone know that I won't be there that day. See ya'll next week.

Just a reminder that I will be out for the last game as well, as of right now it doesn't look as though there will be many people sitting on the bench for that game.

 

I still intend to make the next two games, despite the fact that they are during Summerfest, which opens on Thursday. I may show up at the last minute to both games, and if I know in advance that I won't be able to make it I'll try to give everyone enough of a head's up, but quite often I am not afforded that luxury during the fest.

I completely spaced that Thursday coincides with Bon Jovi's performance here at Summerfest. Every year we have a performer that goes on our Wall of Fame, and I'm the one that coordinates getting the plaque that is made, presented and installed on the Marcus Amphitheater. Which means, I won't be able to make it to this Thursday's game.

 

Which means last Thursday's game was my last of the year. Sorry for the late notice. It was great hanging out and playing softball with you guys this year. I really look forward to next season, and would even be up for a fall league if anyone else in interested (or even a flag football team if anyone would be up for that). I'm pretty impressed that I made it to every game up until this point.

 

Are there any plans for a postseason get together at a bar, for a cookout, etc.?

I think we should attempt to put something together for the fall. Like you said Flag Football or even try to get enough guys for Fall softball again.

We have enough guys that we could play football amongst oursevles if we can't find a league. 10 guys actually is a good number, five per team, if we don't worry about an o-line/d-line and just play more loosely, basically just for kicks and exercise (which I sorely need). I played with a group of guys a few years ago every Saturday this way and it was a lot of fun.

If the season gets pushed back, I can't make a July 19th game. That's game 2 of the CSFLBA World Series, and I'm the longest tenured ump (at 3 years).

I would be in for either flag football or fall league softball. Flag football would be a lot of fun though. It's been a long time since I've played.
