Is there any reason the Brewers shouldn't put a waiver claim in on him?

He had a rough year in 2020 but who didn't?

I still really like his arsenal.

Kind of astounding to me that he's still only 24 now 3 years after the trade...

The Brewers probably have the best inside knowledge of him of any team that could claim him, and I wouldn't be upset or surprised if they put in a claim as a result. At the same time, I won't be disappointed if they use that same insight to determine that he's not worth it.

I still remember watching him pitch in Beloit. I was sitting behind home plate with the scouts, and asked how he could look so good against one batter and get shelled by the next. A scout looked at me with a big smile and simply said "Location."

That was years ago, and things may have changed, but he's always had the stuff. His success will rely on his command and control.

"The most successful (people) know that performance over the long haul is what counts. If you can seize the day, great. But never forget that there are days yet to come."

I'm sure he'll get claimed by someone before Milwaukee based on his age and results from 2019. However, he topped out at 89 MPH in 2020 add that to shaky command, and he's a a fringe major leaguer.

After his 1st three career starts in 2019, Yamamoto has pretty much been an awful MLB pitcher as the book on him has been developed. He walks a ton of guys even when he's pitching well, and he doesn't have the stuff to be capable of being "effectively wild".

His MLB ceiling is probably that of a #5 starter/long reliever, and that's assuming his arm isn't injured. Even if the Brewers' 40 man has an opening or two, they can probably make better use of those spots than claiming Yamamoto.
