The Bears just got away with not one but two blatant holds but the refs managed to throw a flag on the Giants for a late hit at the end of the play.

The consistency on holding calls so far this year has been brutally bad.

I have seen numerous egregious holds at the point of attack not called and ticky tack ones away from the ball called.

1-Same

2-Not sure he needs to do that, but...he definitely needs a LONG time off. If he played any other position(other than K/P) I'd agree, but he CAN play that position without taking as many big shots moving forward. He should probably stay home for the next 6 weeks and then re-evaluate. But...he won't. He'll almost certainly be back under center for the Dolphins in the near future. 2 weeks, maybe 3.

3-Tua is culpable. He's not some babe in the woods. These players have grown up being educated about concussions. You're no longer soft for coming out of the game. They're smart.

Still, this whole thing is to protect the players against themselves. They're educated...and yet they'll fight every step to try and limit concussions. The whining and mocking of those protective helmets in camp was...comical. They're trying to protect Jason Kelce from being the next Mike Webster and...he's got a problem with it.

They could make helmets far more protective, but it just hasn't been worth it yet.

Wonder what percent of QB concussions come from hitting the head on the turf?

Seems to happen a lot.

LOL the Giants forced to go wildcat for a while with Jones and Taylor out of the game, at least for the time being. Barkley doing a good job running the offense so far.

Giants QB gets hurt and Tyrod Taylor comes in. The announcers then gush about how brilliant it is to have a back up QB that is super mobile and very different than Daniel Jones.

Tyrod Taylor then gets absolutely destroyed running the ball and they have no healthy QB. Doesn’t seem so brilliant anymore, does it?

Yeah, that's another big one. You ever play or even just walk on those turfs? I haven't been on Camp Randall in years, but it was like...rough carpet. That's all. It was hard. It's been changed since then(~2010 or somewhere around then).

It was just High School, but I played a couple games on turf...and it sucked. Not just the bloody elbows(I figured out how very necessary those elbow sleeves were after a couple snaps) but in hindsight, running on it and having that type of turf has to hurt as well. I can only imagine what happens when you speed the game up about 10 fold and increase the size by about 120 per person(though TBF, our OL/DL averaged about 320?...which was nice).

Anyway, I know they've all gotten better, especially in the NFL, but even in the NFL, the worst fields are considered Seattle's, Minnesota(which is being replaced). Pretty much all those old, hard turfs from what I understand. Players don't like them. Not like old Veterans field in Philly, but it's not ideal in an already violent sport.

Does ANY in NFL history have worse luck than Tyrod Taylor? Goes to Buffalo, becomes a Pro Bowl QB...loses his job to Nathan Peterman who throws 5 picks in a half(Taylor had at the time, the best INT pct in NFL history). Then goes to Cleveland who drafts Baker Mayfield...gets a concussion and loses his job(shocking a player wouldn't want to come out after a concussion). Then on to the Chargers who...proceed to stab him in the lung. Well...if Cleveland wasn't benching the #1 overall pick in Mayfield, the Chargers weren't putting Herbert back on the bench after his start to his career. Now he's in this no mans land, good enough to be a starter(barely) but not good enough that anyone's gonna build a game plan around you. So he goes to Houston, the worst run NFL franchise over the past couple years...and that is a LOW bar to get under with the WFT, Jets, Dolphins and...the Giants. I do kinda wish I'd watched that game. Barkley is about as exciting a player as I've seen.

DK Metcalf got carted off the field today. Not for an injury, apparently just needed to go poop.

I didn't watch the game last night, but Russ is not off to a very good start in Denver, to say the least.

Yeah...Russ is cooking, but despite pretty good ingredients(to really beat that metaphor to death) and yet food still looks like prison slop so far;

And I was remiss in not mentioning that Hackett so far has been a bad head coach. I mean really bad.

That what you get when you hire an OC hoping the QB come with him...and he doesn't. Hackett hasn't even called plays in his career save for a couple games with the Jags...I think.

So maybe he'll get better. And I'm sure the organization just bought by the Walton's who just spent about 250M on Wilson, they'll be very patient with him.

The refs making sure Brady and the Bucs win. One of the weakest roughing the passer penalties ever.

Nfl just continuing to do nfl things(even thought the refs missed the pi on second down)

Chargers:

Up by 2/Own 46/4th and 1/1:15 to go/Brown have zero timeouts

They not only go for it, but throw the ball…FAIL TO MAKE IT.

Browns only needing a field goal call a bunch of idiotic plays, but did get into realistic field goal range…but their rookie kicker missed it.

Chargers are that dumb, yet still win.

Jags go from looking like a team in the upswing, to a possibly a legit superbowl contender, to now looking like they will be competing for the #1 pick.

Brandon Staley makes mind numbingly stupid decisions seemingly on a regular basis, like going for it deep in their own territory. They just happened to get away with it today. I don't expect the Chargers to be serious contenders with him as their head coach. The head coaching in that division leaves alot to be desired outside of Reid.

It isn’t a Tua issue, that was a new rule they did going into this year. It’s just taken this long for it finally get called in a disastrous way.

This is the issue with adding more and more rules…especially one like this where you can accidentally land on a guy and it looks really no different than intentionally body slamming him.

Im conflicted, because I think that new rule has been incredibly helpful keeping QBs healthy and on the field. Having 350 pound lineman body slamming defenseless QBs is just terrible for the game and the health of players.

But then you do a slowmo replay and see the Chiefs player try to brace his fall and it looks like the worst call in history…but in the defense of the refs there is no way you can see that in real time and the Chiefs player most certainly put all his weight onto Carr. It’s hard to blame the refs, they are simply calling it how the NFL told them.

Apparently sacking the quarterback is now illegal after the Tua fiasco. Talk about an extreme overreaction.

Just put flags on them already.  Then maybe it'll be easier to watch baseball and nascar on the weekends here in vegas at the sportsbooks instead of all the nfl garbage.

There should be an investigation after this game.  An official clearly placed a first half bet on Raiders ML and called in second half bet on chiefs ML.  Ive never seen anything more rigged in my life.
