The SEC is just on another level compared to everyone else. Soon to have won 14 out of the last 20 National Championships.

Wonder if Michigan was game planning for Georgia and just totally overlooked TCU because they thought it would be a walk in the park.

yes but had OSU made a field goal GA wouldn't be playing today

Bowers would be a Top 10 pick if he was able to come out this year.  Crazy how good he is and still has to play one more year in college.

Michigan really blew a golden opportunity with the way they slept-walked into the game with TCU.  Hard for me to believe that TCU is really the better team.

At least with Oklahoma and Texas bailing, we will now longer have to pretend that the Big 12 is a major conference and we can go down to a "Power Four."  Really should have happened a few years ago IMO.

Georgia with 354 yards of offense at halftime.

Except a Big 12 team beat the Big Ten team in the playoff…so maybe it won’t be bad afterwards.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the playoff expands and the Big 12 gets an auto bid. Definitely could see a team just retaking the dominance OU had and just be way above the rest of the conference. Getting to be in the playoffs every year and the exposure could be real attractive to recruits. Not sure a school has the money/NIL to do it though.

This beatdown masks the fact OSU had UGA beat last week until Harrison Jr. left the game.  Still, very impressive that Georgia lost 15 players from last year's national title team to the NFL draft and still was the best team in the country this year in a "rebuilding" season.

so let's see....2023 preseason top 5:

UGA

Bama

OSU

Mich

USC?

You could pretty much replace 2023 with 2024, 2025....probably 2026 and so on and you'd be right.

It's gotten to the point where D3 NCAAA is more competitive even when it's constantly Mt. Union, Whitewater, or North Central winning the championship.

Expanding the playoff should make it easier to get an SEC vs SEC title game which might actually be competitive.

Given how other bowls have gone this year (and my general lack of interest in the championship games), how were the final 4 teams impacted by the large numbers of player transfers and/or NFL draft prep defections?

I've always thought that the month long gap between the end of the football and the bowl season was bad for the quality of the teams, but that has to be exacerbated by suddenly losing key players.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Eh, I'd say it was more like a Big Ten team beat itself in the playoff.

True. I don’t think TCU lost the championship game either. Just beat themselves.

In all honesty, Michigan gave up 51 points to a team Georgia held to 7 points. Michigan would have gotten absolutely slaughtered too.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Michigan beat Ohio St (pretty soundly) who probably should have beaten Georgia.

I don't think they get absolutely clowned, but I imagine it would have ended up similar to a lot of other title games where it is a solid 18-24 point game that never felt super close for most of it. Michigan can beat OSU, but that is inter-conference and someone they are used to playing. I don't think those comparable opponents always translate in reality.

The Big 12 currently has every team in the Top 60 NET Ratings. The average is about 26 for the conference...the next closest conference is in the mid-50s.

Even with their soon to be new look conference adding Houston (#1), UCF (#32), BYU (#96), and Cincy (#99) that is still bonkers. That would be the only conference with everyone in the Top 100. Every other conference has at least three teams in the 100+ range except the Big Ten. The Big Ten only has Minnesota (#235) to carry.
