It would appear, early in the DSL, the DSL Brewers 2 squad can really put up some runs. 10 yesterday. 12 today in the 8th inning. Yeison Perez followed up his two dubs and rbi yesterday with count em' two ding dongs and 4 rbi's so far versus the DSL Rangers. Trailing 9-4 in the bottom of the sixth, the Brewers 2 put up an 8 spot. This will do. Yes, this will do.

The DSL Brewers 1 outhit Philly 8-4 but still managed to lose the game 6-5. A valiant 2-run ninth inning fell short. Luis Lara continues to shine early going 2-for-4 today to with 2 runs.

Carolina and Myrtle Beach are playing a doubleheader today (2 x 7-inning games) and RHP Stiven Cruz (4.41 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 12.1 K/9) gets the start in the first game, as the Mudcats try to even up this week's series 1-1:

The Timber Rattlers need a win today in Beloit to avoid a 3-0 series deficit, with RHP Ryne Moore (9.18 ERA in High-A, 2.31 ERA in Low-A) making his 5th appearance for Wisconsin. Although most of the offense has been struggling, 2B Jose Acosta comes in with a 5-game hitting streak:

The Sounds host the Tides in a doubleheader today, aiming to turn around a 1-0 series deficit and end a 3-game skid. RHP Josh Lindblom needs a bounce-back game after yielding 11 runs over his last two starts. DH/OF Jonathan Davis has reached base in 19 straight games:

Jeferson Quero alert:

Since May 22nd, Quero is batting 11-for-36. 2 doubles. 1 HR. 5 rbi's. 5 walks. 5 k's. Love the 1:1 walk to k ratio. This is a nice little run for the young catcher. He's always giving great defensive work to the squad and has a solid arm to second base. This type of offensive output is noticeable.

We are in the top of the sixth inning and Jackson Chourio is in danger of losing his hit streak. He was called for  highly questionable strike two check swing call in his third AB that clearly did not sit well with the young stud. He struck out in anger on a breaking ball his next pitch and tossed a menacing glare at the Infield ump. The same ump that awarded the HR call in game 1 on Tuesday evening to pull Myrtle Beach within 1 run while the entire outfield and Manager Estevez were left perplexed. It's tough having a two-ump crew.

Carolina’s up 3-2 going into the final (7th) inning of Game 1, with RHPs Stiven Cruz and Brannon Jordan striking 8 Pelicans in 6 innings thus far. Hang on men!

Karlos Morales will come on in the top of the 7th to attempt to close a 3-2 Mudcats victory and nabbing back a well-deserved win after Tuesday's late inning disappointment. Stiven Cruz was fantastic over five complete - his lone mistake a 2-run HR. Other than that fifth inning 'mistake', in total he struck out 6 and and gave up a mere walk and four hits over the five innings. That's continued fine work from the young hurler.

We are to the top of the Pelicans' order now. It's still 3-2. Two down. Morales has given up two singles here so there are men on first and second.

YES, sir! He gets the first pitch line out as it lands softly in the glove of Hedbert Perez in left field. That's Stiven Cruz's well-deserved first Low-A victory. Alright, alright, alright!

I think RHP Josh Lindblom could use a re-set. That’s 2 homers given up in the first inning, after 4 in his last start. Norfolk 3, Nashville 0.

Flips over to the Nashville Sounds Game 1 and instantly sees Jonny Davis smash a solo dinger over the wall in left. On base streak now into the 20's. Sounds trail 3-1 in the bottom half.

Yeah, he's in a bad stretch here after his last outing. Gotta get back in the swing of things.

When the Sounds traveled to Jacksonville my man Jon Singleton had gotten that BA back above 0.220. He's now batting 0.181. My heavy heart needs healing?

Sounds like it's time to bring him up to the big league club. How would you compare his defense to Cain and Taylor @Julio Muchacho

I go spend two full Lithium batteries on the walk-behind Toro and, lo and behold, I return for a Jonathan Davis rip to the wall in right field. Just like that, we're JD on 2nd and it's now a 4-5 Norfolk lead. Let's go, men! Brice Turang knocks JD over to third. One down.

His defense is legit fantastic. Incredible range. Diving catches on a routine basis. He's a small but built player. The arm is nothing to write home about. But, man, he can catch pretty much anything.

Okay, you've now got me fully convinced. Bring him up Stearns! We need a shakeup.

Abraham Almonte walks on a full count pitch. Patience, patience, patience at the dish. He looks at a breaking ball just outside and lays off a tailing splitter below the bottom-cut of the zone. Men on first and third and the struggling Jon Singleton is up.

(*Naturally, I see Big Jon has walked and doubled and scored a run since I was outside?)

And, just like that the rally fizzles. It's now a four-game losing streak. Singleton goes down looking on a slider dead over the center-right cut - he strikes out on three pitches. Mark Mathias works a count full but punches a weak pop up to shallow right field where his counterpart at second base easily gathers the fly out. On to Game 2. Let's go, Sounds. Let's end this streak.
