Yes, we need a grumpy old man managing this team!

Where's Ken Macha?

?

Despite my intense frustration with our level of play - I’m super thankful that Tony LaRussa is NOT our manager

Moments like these are a big reason the NFL beats MLB. Nobody really knows *** is going on this conversation or the last.

Craig, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Ashby doesn't have it today.

Doesn't seem like he makes pitching decisions based on anything but pitch count this year.

While it probably doesn't affect anything what council's mad about is the one that was in the dirt and rolled in front of the plate the batter reached out with his bat to knock it back to the empire but if that wasn't a foul ball he would be out for interfering with a live baseball

I love this team as much as anyone on this forum, but I’m incapable of not stating the truth - this has been an incredibly disappointing season to date

It is alarming that we’ve remained in first place through 60 games based on what I’ve watched so far - I can only recall 5 or 6 well played games

We’ve had a few “miracle” wins - Hiura HR in extras & Jace Peterson’s three-run triple in bottom of the ninth recently … or this slide would be even worse

Trying to “stay positive” & “remember its a long season” doesn’t work for me

The truth is - we are NOT a good team … especially without Peralta & Woody

No fun at all to watch

I like Counsell and I know he's not going anywhere but change is good. Phillies getting rid of their manager and of course it gave them a jolt of energy. Every time they talk about Counsell chasing a record you realize it's been 8 years. His message could be falling flat. Just lifeless. That said if Yelich turned into Bryce Harper that would be good too.

Injuries to the starting rotation considered, the  one and only strength of this ball club is the back end of the bullpen but the bullpen as a whole hasn’t been spectacular by any means. It’s a rather uninspiring bunch. Skipped the game and checked the score, glad I did. What’s the losing streak now, 7 in a row and 9 of last 10?

I think we hear that a lot "the message is falling flat" about managers and coaches.  I'm not sure I buy that.  Rosters turn over to a pretty large degree pretty quickly in major sports, so most of the guys on any given team aren't around long enough for a manager or coach's style to wear them out.  There's only a handful of Brewers who have been here more than 3-4 years so I don't think Counsell's voice has fallen flat, so to speak.

I think, this year, he's choosing to selectively use out-of-context data to stubbornly stick to lineup choices, and that's not great, and I think that he's fallen into the same bullpen usage patterns that most other big league managers end up falling into. He used to be a little more creative with how he used guys, and that was (IMO) a net plus for the team, but not as much anymore.

I’ve dreaded the day that the Cardinals took the lead in the NL Central … that could be later tonight

I need to walk away so I can have a good weekend … what a shame to watch the season go up in flames

We need more heart as well as more talent

I get that however there is something to be said for needing a new voice when a guy has been around this long. It is not unusual for a manger or coach to leave on their own because there is a sense that the message is falling on deaf ears. I'm not saying it is but it is possible that a change may in order just for new ideas. As you say there seems to be a stubborn side of Counsell this year that has not been there in the past. Perhaps this is all just a bump in the road. As I said I am a fan but this team is not going anywhere fast. Has limited resources and not a ton of help on the way. Time to reevaluate.

Forget three innings, it's daunting for them to score that much in nine.

4 runs in 3 games is about their max right now.
