Tough 4-3 loss for DSL Brewers2 (dropping record to 18-17), which had really pitched well through 8 innings to lead DSL Nationals 3-1.

19-year old RHP Felipe De Los Santos (3 1/3 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 3 BB, 7 Ks; 3.47 season ERA) seems to prefer starting, putting in his 4th solid start in 6 appearances.

18-year old RHP Darling Solano (4 IP, 2R, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 HBP, 6 Ks; 5.57 season ERA) had pitched 4 scoreless innings until the 9th inning collapse.

The team failed to retire any of the 4 batters it faced in the bottom of the 9th inning, going HBP, walk, replace pitcher, walk, bases clearing triple.

18-year old 1B/OF Yeison Perez (1-for-4, double, RBI) hit an RBI double to keep up his season OPS (1.073).

17-year old 2B Juan Baez (.769 season OPS), 18-year old SS Demetrio Nadal (.662 season OPS) and 17-year old OF Reminton Batista (.666 season OPS) each reached base twice, while Nadal also stole his 11th base of 2022.

17-year old INF Johan Barrios remains absent since leaving a game early on July 18th.

DSL Brewers1 matched the DSL Reds in hits (9 each), but went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men stranded in their 12-2 blowout loss, falling to 12-20 on the season.

The team actually led 2-0 in the 1st inning, but gave up 6 runs in the 2nd inning and failed to get back into the contest.

Despite the unsightly scoreline, 18-year old RHP Dikember Sanchez (4 1/3 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks; 6.00 season ERA) put up a solid relief effort.

Offensively, we can note two singles each from 19-year old OF/IF Luis Watter (.535 season OPS), 17-year old OF Luis Lara (.844 season OPS) and 17-year old INF Jhonny Severino (.778 season OPS). 18-year old C/1B Edgardo Ordonez (single, walk; .860 season OPS) also reached base twice, while 18-year old OF Duncan Garcia had the team's only extra base hit (double, RBI; season OPS .720).

Lara exited to start the 9th inning, so we'll have to keep a lookout on his availability.

The Carolina Mudcats start their 3-game series at home against Rangers' Low-A affiliate Down East, with 20-year old RHP Stiven Cruz (3.81 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 10.3 K/9 in 54 1/3 innings) making his 12th start of the season tonight. RF Hendry Mendez comes in with a 10-game hitting streak:

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers aim to end their 4-game losing streak as they host Marlins' High-A affiliate Beloit this weekend. 21-year old RHP Israel Puello (1.29 ERA in his last 28 innings of High-A/Low-A ball) will start the opener. 2B Jose Acosta has hit safely in 6 of his last 7 games (10-for-26 in this stretch):

The Biloxi Shuckers host Marlins' AA affiliate Pensacola this weekend for a 3-game set, with 24-year old LHP Nick Bennett (5.45 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 8.1 K/9 in 72 2/3 innings) starting the opening game as he searches for consistency. CF Sal Frelick is looking to continue his hot streak, having hit safely in 8 of his last 9 games (16-for-36 in these games):

Boy, with Frelick gone and Tyler Black injured for the year (goodness this sucks so hard) that Wisco offense is very precarious right now.

They are going to need some major turnarounds and more consistent AB’s from many a man in tonight’s lineup. They can’t solely rely on the consistent output of Tristan Peters.

I’m looking at Joe Gray Jr., Darrien Miller, Zavier Warren, and Ashton McGee first. Followed by more consistency (outside of his incredible ability to draw walks) from Wes Clarke. Jose Acosta’s recent surge has been a pleasant surprise BUT they need something, anything, from the Ethan Murray/Antonio Pinero tandem.

The Nashville Sounds are on the road for a 3-game series at Reds' AAA affiliate Louisville, with 33-year old RHP Marcus Walden on the mound attempting to replicate his last start (6 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 4 Ks). 3B Pablo Reyes returns to action for the first time in a week, still riding a 9-game on-base streak:

I see OF David Dahl signed on with the Nationals on a Minor League contract (assigned to the Triple-A Rochester Redwings). That’s a great spot for him! Here’s hoping Soto is traded and he gets his shot to play at the Major League level. Best of luck, David!

Obviously Chourio is all the hype right now, and he should be. But I'm starting to get really excited about Frelick. Seems like one of those guys that is just going to hit no matter what. Turning on a high FB from a LHP like that doesn't hurt either.

Exciting games up and down the system today/tonight. Lots of crooked numbers. No lead is safe or deficit is insurmountable.

Full season affiliate results:

- Nashville 12, Louisville 6
- Biloxi 5, Pensacola 1
- Beloit 10, Wisconsin 9 (comeback falls just short)
- Down East 12, Carolina 10 (same on comeback)

That’s 36 runs for the good guys and 29 given up. We also had 51 hits. Two homers for Jon Singleton. Jakson Reetz hit his first homer at AAA Nashville. Sal Frelick and Pablo Reyes also homered.

LHP Nick Bennett put on a surprise clinic for Biloxi: zero earned runs in 7 innings.

Jackson Chourio had 3 doubles. Abraham Almonte had 4 hits.

Agree with the poster above on Frelick. He’s hit at every level including AA and he’s an excellent fielder. I really think we’ve got something here. There’s a reason he’s a top 100 prospect.

OF Jace Avina hit 2 more home runs for ACL Brewers Blue, his 7th and 8th of the year. He reached base 4 times, though they lost 11-7. Who thinks he’s due for a call-up to Carolina?

hopefully Eric Brown is going to Wisconsin to start... should be plenty of at bats at SS

Unless I misunderstood, he was interviewed by BA and Rock at the Brewer game last night and Brown said he was headed to Carolina.
