RHP Cristian Sierra, released by Milwaukee after six 2022 Timber Rattler appearances, has been subsequently released by Miami. The Marlins had picked him up on June 5th, less than three weeks after his Brewers departure. Combined Sierra walked 22 in 16.2 innings this season.

We were just talking about INF’s Daniel Guillarte and Gregory Barrios. Both 18. Both shone brightly in the ACL. And, just like that…we got a Barrios look:

Can’t speak to range/arm, but he also has done a really good job limiting errors this season as well. There are going to be a lot of really qualified candidates for playing time  at 2b, ss, 3b at Wisconsin and Carolina next season.

And that's before a draft class gets added to it.

This coming year seems like the first time our international signings are going to sync up with a draft class. I have a feeling we are going to fly up the system ranking lists / have some absolutely dominant A-ball teams.

Biloxi is in serious jeopardy of seeing this entire home series cancelled at this rate. 97% chance of thunderstorms into and through the evening. The entire radar is littered with green and yellow. Send some my way, please. Sheeeesh.

High-A Wisconsin looks to grab a 2-1 series lead at home against Lansing and welcomes DH/C Jeferson Quero (.735 season OPS in Low-A/High-A) back to the lineup for his first action since August 16th. RHP Brady Schanuel makes his 3rd start, boasting a 0.75 ERA over his last 24 innings of work (No Jinx!!!):

This is actually why they promoted Wiemer, Frelick and Mitchell. Too much rain in Biloxi. ??‍♂️

It looks like they’ll play 2 Friday, 1 Saturday, 2 Sunday.

Ethan “Yovani” Small faced 4 full counts in the 2nd inning and couldn’t quite escape, as his 3rd walk of the frame brought in a run. He exited after throwing 36 pitches in that part-inning, with RHP Matt Hardy coming in to get the final batter. Sounds trail 1-0.

Man has he been a disappointment ……hopefully the lab can work some magic with him this off-season.

Baseball’s more fun when you can score 2 runs on 2 infield hits (Feliciano, Ruiz), a walk (Dorrian), sacrifice bunt (Frelick), ground ball out. Sounds lead 2-1 in the 3rd inning.

2B Patrick Dorrian keeps up his recent hot streak, smacking a 2-out, 2-run homer in the 4th inning. All square in Durham, 4-4.

Seriously killing it in Durham. Awesome sauce. He's swinging the bat beautifully, btw.

I continue to love RHP Edwin Jimenez as a break-out candidate over the next few years. I continue to love his stuff...he just has no consistency. Tonight, he's back on the wagon of an efficient and dominant outing. This is very encouraging. I'm going to say it yet again: he has vintage Mike Fiers stuff. He really does.

Mejia struck out Aranda on a dirty pitch. BUT, the magic ran out. Rick Sweet was ejected in this inning mind you. He just walked Josh Lowe (for the 4th consecutive AB after his 2 HR night). Bases still juiced. 2 down. Sounds now trail 6-5. They will have 3 more outs to try to mount a comeback.

Mejia hit two batters this inning. And, now, well, he threw a pitch way in the dirt..another run crosses. Yuck. Down 7-5 now. Man, that's a tough pill to swallow.

AND, Mejia walks the 10th batter (35 pitches - only 18 strikes. Walked a couple. Hit a couple) for the Sounds. Bases loaded again. One of those nights. Welcome to Triple-A Nash Walters. WIll you clean up our mess? LOL
