McCutchen is not what anyone would be looking for in an everyday DH. And yet he has one of our two hits today. Sad state of affairs. ?

Does ANYone think the hitting coaches have helped these hitters be more successful?

Uecker was talking about this on the radio.  He was basically saying a hitting coach can suggest changes all they want but the players aren’t going to change

So it's up to management. Either you make changes to your hitting or we changes to your address.

With the season hanging by a thread do you think anyone will have a good at bat in the ninth like the 90 some odd loss team like the marlins have been doing

the contracts are guaranteed wherever they play. that's a fairly hollow threat.

Need more out of 1st base next year as well.

Why give up on 30+ home runs per year. That's Rowdy's one and only job, hit for power and he's been admirable defensiely. That's like asking to replace Gorman Thomas in the early 80s'

Yah…not sure how you get better..,or even afford to. Tellez is cheap.

We’re supposed to content ourselves with almost getting Manny Machado once and then oh-so-nearly getting Justin Turner another time.

tellez and his .770 ops from 1st base would be ok if he wasn't a terrible defender. despite the power he's just a hair above replacement level.

A terrible defender? Have you seen the hundreds of picks he's had?

every 1b has a ton of scoops and picks. every defensive metric system measures him as below average.

I know, the eye test of biased fans is more accurate, but I'm gonna trust the numbers when every defensive system confirms that he's pretty rough.
