Want to create your own 2023 roster and blueprint? We have the tool for that!

This is an all new feature and I hope you really enjoy this tool for building a 2023 Brewers roster. You can mix and match names, build your own roster, and explain your reasoning. After you're done, you click submit and it creates a thread with your name in the Rumors/Proposals forum so others can comment and participate in talking about your roster.

https://brewerfanatic.com/payroll-blueprint

You can mix and match any players and dollar figures you want. The only thing set in stone is Dead Money, the rest is entirely up to you. The "budget" is set right around the 2022 payroll of $130m and is merely a guideline to see if you're under- or over-spending.

After you've built your custom roster, use the Your Comments & Explanation field to type out your thoughts, reasoning, and explain just how it is you managed to sign Aaron Judge and trade forJT Realmuto.

Enjoy, everybody! If you have feedback or questions, ask away.

PS. I'm up against a wall with getting this out the door so the internal options and some of the recommended players aren't nearly as fleshed out as I'd like them to be. If you have recommendations for additions or changes, just pop them in here and I'll make those changes asap. I'm leaving town super-early tomorrow morning and wanted to get this out before I'm potentially away from a workspace for a few days. Thanks in advance!

Huh.  Good work. If only we could use the internet to judge and place people in real life, ascribing a value to their being so as to root out the freeloaders and underachievers in everyday businesses...(this is a JO?KE, people,,.)

Kolton Wong's buyout is only $2mil...so I don't know why it is $2.5mil unless I am missing something. Also, his salary should not automatically be $10mil then, it should be minus the dead money. You are double accounting for it.

Yeah, I pulled the numbers from Cot’s and they’re not perfect. I’ll dig into his contract later and fix it.

Alright, did my best MLB: The Show team for fun. I would not actually do this...but you know, why not humor myself. Realistically I would probably three team trade in a way to get my preferred starting pitcher and flashy bullpen arm after trading Burnes. Maybe chase after a 3B and get rid of Urias. I didn't have anyone in mind though. Also stuck random salaries into the bullpen as I didn't want to chase after actual names. For $4mil and $2.5mil I should find decent guys. Woodruff was extended (hence the pay boost) and Adames will be traded after 2023.

Slight boost in LF offensively next year. Really just wanted to see how realisticly competitive I could make a team while adding Judge.? Cause I don't know about anyone else, but this is exactly what I do on MLB: The Show.

Good idea for something to do during the off season. Any way to make sure all 26 spots are filled to get a more accurate budget. Maybe if not filled out auto add another .7. Seeing a lot of 20 man rosters.

Yelich's salary is also wrong. $4mil is deferred...so his should be $22mil.

Seems trivial, but a few salary errors quickly snowballs. It is a sweet tool though! Fun to play around with and it makes things way easier than messing around in an excel file.

Thank you! Like I said, putting together the numbers was slap-dash after the tool was built. I’m currently in Florida and can make these small changes but wanted to get the tool itself out to you users, even if it’s imperfect on day one.

An interesting point. Something I'll try to resolve in the future, giving each spot a minimum salary in case people don't fill out the entire sheet.

If someone already mentioned this and I missed it (or I somehow missed this on the starting blueprint?), I apologize.  What about Aaron Ashby? I assume he would be the 5th starter considering they just signed him to a LT contract.

I've seen it two ways: $26M plus $4M deferred, and $22M plus $4M deferred.

Christian Yelich Contract Details, Salaries, & Earnings | Spotrac

If anyone is wondering, we pay him till his 50th birthday. Woah

If the Brewers want to keep talent like Yelich (who came off a 2018 MVP campaign and a 2019 MVP runner-up), you pay big bucks. Now, they could try to alleviate that hit by going the Bobby Bonilla route, which could save them a bit more cash up front, but for a team like the Brewers, this is the way.

Strzelecki is not in the default roster, and lots of people are neglecting him. He might be our 7th inning guy if we don't acquire anyone.

I haven’t looked at this in a few weeks. I also need to add Winker and Toro. Anyone else?

@Robocaller I moved stuff around, let me know if I missed something.

Also, I can remove Kolten Wong's dead money, right? I thought the Brewers essentially got that back in the Winker trade.

I mean, once they picked up the option, there was no "dead money," just a $10M salary, which is the M's responsibility.
I suppose you could consider the $1.75M going to the M's as dead money.

Right. Money went back to the Mariners. That was the thing I wasn't remembering properly. Thanks.
