For those wondering (since information has been nonexistent for some reason), RHP Thyago Vieira is still in the organization and is rehabbing an injury at the Arizona Complex.  No, I don’t have much else on the type of injury, but it doesn’t seem to be too serious.  My very broad estimate is a return to game action in the next month or two, possibly sooner.

Noticed that Hiura has completely ditched his leg kick.

I haven't seen any video, but I really hope that he makes some significant changes that will keep a more-level bat in the zone for longer, because I just can't accept that he doesn't have the talent to hit .300.

Two of his homers were on low pitches and look like this:

Hiura has been a really good low ball hitter.  It is the upper part of the zone where he gets absolutely dominated.  It is mostly because of his swing and in that video his swing hasn't changed a bit.  It is still an upper cut swing where he is going to be taken advantage of in the upper part of the zone.  I believe only 3 of Hiura's extra base hits last year were in the upper part of the zone and the majority of his K's were in the upper part of the zone.

The leg kick is not the main problem for Hiura it is the upper cut swing and his inability to cover the top third of the strike zone.

That's my belief as well. I have no doubt that changing up his timing and weight shift could make him more consistent as a power threat, but I agree that I'm not sure it will change his strikeouts. He can't catch up to high heat.

I just came here to pour a metaphorical drink out for one of my favorite Sounds, RHP Tyler Herb who, it appears, will miss the majority of the 2023 season.

Pour One Out Malt Liquor GIF

Herb is a true Minor League veteran who really showed out with his best stuff this past year plus. He's a guy who I felt could find his way to the Big Club as a versatile middle relief arm if all the stars aligned over the next two seasons - he's just a really good pitcher who I felt was just discovering his best stuff around his already plus Sinker. He's a great personality and fantastic interview each and every time he's spoken with Jeff Hem. Injuries suck and this one hurts me as a fan of our Minor Leaguers. It really hurts Manager Rick Sweet and his staff who admits (interview above) they don't really have a starting rotation right now.

I think that the MLB taxi squad remains in effect (and will for many years), at least for MLB road games.

This would explain the slightly over-loaded AAA roster (32 active at present, vs. 28 limit), as well as Janson Junk and Brian Navaretto not playing for several days.

I suspect we’ll see a number of players move to the Development List by Friday, as the taxi squad returns, along with Payton Henry (recently outrighted) and JB Bukauskas (recently claimed) reporting.

I'm considering going to see the Sounds later this week, either Fri 5/12 or Sat 5/13. Is there any way to look up probable starting pitchers? Couldn't find it on the Sounds website or via internet search.

Thank you, wiguy94 and damuelle. I ended up not going to either game, but appreciate the help.
