He has had a lot of infield hits in that too though, we know there's power in there so the main question is if he can translate it over to the majors faster by staying here (he may adjust himself before Taylor returns) or better with time out of the spotlight in the minors. He's playing everyday so that's the main thing

I've watched every pitch of every game so far this season, but haven't paid any attention to stats for the most part; so going strictly off eye test, I've actually been kinda impressed by Weimer so far.

He seems to show a good batting eye, I like how he tracks each pitch right to the very end, lays off some tough pitches.

Taylor slots in well as a 4th OF.

As a 3rd OF, most folks would aspire for more, but most teams don't have a better 3rd-best OF.

I can't see an argument against that.

If they don't demote Wiemer for at least two weeks during the season, that is evidence of malpractice by team's management. They would lose a year of team control. His BA has dropped pretty far, so I don't think it makes the team worse by bringing back Taylor and demoting Wiemer.

I just wish Frelick was forcing the issue of a promotion for him, though he's been off to a slow start.

In my opinion, Weimer has put together a lot of good ab's, his k rate is high but it seems like there are a lot of 6-7 pitchs k's which aren't great but it appears he is seeing the ball well. He also has had a lot of deep fly balls which hopefully will fly a little better in summer. I have though Weimer's ceiling was always around .275/.370/.900 with 30/30 potential and Gold Glove caliber RF, he has shown that for sure, especially when he makes better contact.

Frelick hasn't been great but I could see Frelick and Taylor coming up when Taylor is ready and Weimer and Miller going down. Then we have Taylor and Anderson for lefties in OF and Frelick in CF and Mitchell to RF for RHP.

With Mitchell out for the season, Taylor is the best option for regular OF play.  Anderson is fine in RF but it means playing Brosseau at 3B and he's a serious defensive liability.  Weimer hasn't hit for power and that's supposed to be his offensive game.  A lot of warning track outs for sure, but only one over the wall.  Miller's been one of the best hitters on the team.  He's not going anywhere unless he cools off.  Taylor replaces Perkins on the active roster when he comes back.  Weimer will stick around for a while longer, but if he doesn't pick it up with the bat, and Frelick gets hot at Nashville, you flip flop them.

Considering Frelick is out until mid-June at the earliest, that may take awhile.

With Mitchell out, the best regular OF the Crew can do is Yelich-Taylor-Wiemer (or Yelich-Wiemer-Taylor). Frelick's thumb injury is going to take a while to heal - best to let him return to form in AAA to get back to form.
