A minor league team won 7-5 in a 7 inning doubleheader tonight despite being no hit. They scored 7 runs in the 7th inning off of 5 walks, 4 HBP, and an error.

A .250 hitter with no power and below average defense in left field is in no way serviceable.

And that player - despite his outrageous contract - should not be in the lineup everyday or batting in the top third every day

Wow . That's nuts.

My comments have nothing to do with our record after tonight

Yelich is no longer a good player … we can have a different opinion

I will ask kindly - please stop suggesting that I take a deep breath

If you are bothered by my posts - stop reading them or go watch the Twins

I don’t need a dad

Yelich is no longer a good player, I agree with that. He's basically an acceptable MLB starter at this point.

And yes, I'm going to continue to be bothered by these posts because it's my job to make sure this site stays functional and welcoming to users, as I literally own it.

I'm very politely asking you to check how you're coming across, yet you respond in a quite rude way.

I agree. Last year, Yelich hit .250. That's not worth his contract, but it's serviceable. We could be doing (and have done) a lot worse at his position.

Capable & serviceable baseball players should not be in the lineup every day … he would be a good bench bat since he has a decent OBP … he is nowhere close to where he was four years ago … time to swallow hard, eat the contract, & play more talented & productive players

Why do you say Yelich has below average defense?

If you're saying that Yelich should probably be benched against LHP, I'd agree... had the front office actually acquired more RHB players this offseason. It was something I was clamoring for but they didn't give outfield coverage against LHP.

A .250 bat is a good thing to have in the MLB, but we're not seeing it so far this year. It's a long season.

We haven't seen it for three years.

Yelich hit .252 last year.

My comments on Yeli should not be corrected

He plays for the Brewers & he is no longer a good player

My referencing his poor play doesn’t require that I take a deep breath … nothing will alter my view of his play other than better play or his being benched, released or traded

Instructing me or others to be mindful of our 6-2 start is condescending & equally rude … thus the dad comment

I don’t believe the owner’s responsibilities require that all comments about Brewers players are positive

He has a noodle arm & occasionally misplays balls in the OF

He has good speed & is a swell guy & teammate … otherwise he is subpar

Which play has he missed this year because of his arm strength? Has he committed any errors?

He's not a spring chicken anymore, but he made a nice sliding catch against the Mets to end the game.

It’s not polite to recommend that I take a deep breath & consider our 6-2 record

Listen, I've been running communities for 20 years now so I'm going to address this directly:

Never once in 20 years have I said "be positive all the time". If you look at my post history, I'm quite eager to pile on when things go badly. What you said here is a strawman that deserves no consideration.

What I'm actually saying is this. Read this new thread. And no, it's not about you, it's about running a healthy community. You're just a cog in the machine, the same as me. But ultimately, all those cogs matter in the grand scheme of things.

I wonder if trading Burnes to someone who would be willing to take Yelich would make sense. It would hurt the return of course but it would be worth it. You have his replacement ready to go in Frelick so you might end up with a better situation for everyone.

I come back from dinner, and the game thread has once again descended into a referendum on Yelich....

I normally don't like it either but this game was over in the third inning.
