AAA Nashville seeks a third straight win over Norfolk at home, with 28-year old RHP Pedro Fernandez (0.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, 6.0 K/9 in 6 IP) getting the start. Hot-hitting 33-year old 3B Eddy Alvarez (.296 / .457 / .667) is batting 9th.

The AA Shuckers were rained out yesterday, so will host Pensacola for a doubleheader tonight. RHP Tobias Myers starts the opener - can the 24-year old dominate like in his last outing (5.2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 3 BB, 11 Ks)?

The High-A Timber Rattlers, tied 1-1 in their home series against Peoria, send 22-year old RHP Joseph Hernandez (4.50 ERA with 6 Ks in 4 IP) to the mound for his second start. Switch-hitting 21-year old INF Robert Moore has mashed over his last 3 games (6-for-12, 2 HR, 2 doubles, 6 RBIs).

Carolina welcomes 2022 second round pick RHP Jacob Misiorowski to Zebulon, where he's scheduled to start his first-ever Low-A game. The offense has been a disaster through four games (1-3 record), but tonight 20-year old two-way player Quinton Low (.756 OPS in 135 PAs in ACL last season) will get his first at-bats at this level. Let's beat Salem!

Misiorowski only went 1 inning. Guessing that was the plan all along. He went 1-2-3 with a swinging strikeout, flyout to the track in CF, and a broken bat grounder to 3B. He sat 98-99 and topped out at 101. Had two really wild pitches but other than that everything was located pretty well.

Tobias Myers hasn't had his best stuff tonight, but at least he's kept throwing strikes (39 of 55 pitches through 4 innings). Biloxi trailed 3-0, but Zavier Warren just pulled a blast over the left field wall (2-run shot, scoring Ethan Murray) for his first homer of 2023. It's 3-2 now in the bottom of the 4th inning, with 1-on, 1-out and Felix Valerio up looking for his first hit.

Myers came out to attempt another inning, getting through 4 batters (double, 2 outs, RBI single) and now gives way with LHP Darrell Thompson. Shuckers down 4-2 in the top of the 5th inning, 2-on, 2-out.

The High-A game is under way in Appleton, with Joseph Hernandez hitting the first batter, then striking out three of the next four (walked one), with no damage. Go Rattlers!

Hendry Mendez had an awkward slide into 2B on a SB attempt and seems to be down and in a lot of pain. He was removed from the game. Doesn’t look good for him.

It's difficult to over-state how bad the Mudcat offense is at present, still missing OF Luis Castillo and now with Tayden Hall likely nursing something that's hopefully temporary. Hall exited in the top of the 4th inning on Tuesday. Carolina 1 run on 2 hits through 4 innings tonight, trailing Salem 2-1.

RHP Edwin Jimenez is pitching decently (2 runs, 5 Ks through 4 innings), but didn't help himself when fielding a grounder in the 3rd inning (ruled a hit, plus an error; followed by an RBI double and sac fly).

Man, he can not get a break with hitting the ground in a baseball game. Ugh. Absolute ugh. He needs these games.

4-3 Wahoos but the Shuckers have men on the corner with two down and there's an impending pitching change. Let's hope they can knock some runs across.

Pensacola finally pulled their starting pitcher after 92 pitches, ending with a Noah Campbell RBI single to cut the deficit to 4-3 with 2-on and 2-out in the bottom of the 6th inning.

Freddy Zamora is up. He popped out on a 2-0 pitch in the 3rd inning and grounded out on a 3-0 pitch to end the 4th inning.

Oh BABY! SS Freddie Zamora rips a double and knocks both men across. OF Noah Campbell beats the relay throw and they're suddenly up 5-4 and RHP Abner Uribe is up in the pen. AND, then a wild throw from Home to 3B sees Zamora come home on the steal attempt. Let's go!

Zamora rips a liner into LF. The LF makes a diving play but can’t make the catch. Campbell motors from 1st and scores to take the lead.

Zamora steals 3rd on the next pitch and advances to home on a throwing error by the catcher. 6-4 Shuckers!

He roped a ball to deep left and the LF was incapable of making the play. He fell down and it ricocheted off his chest. Pandemonium and runs baby!

Carolina did not collect their 3rd hit of the game, but they DID score in the 5th inning to tie the game 2-2 on an Eduarqui Fernandez walk, stolen base and an error. They're on to the top of the 6th inning.

1 hr 17 min 44 sec mark on the Hendry Mendez slide. That looked really bad. I don't want to make any speculations here but that ankle moved in a way it shouldn't. That might be a season-ender. Absolute ugh. He's also clutching the knee. Just an extremely awkward slide. Awful early season play there for one of our favorite young talents. The field and the infield dirt does appear to be wet as well. I hope that didn't play a part. Toward the end of the top of the second Eric Brown Jr. was looking at his cleats at an awkward play at 2B and pulled huge chunks of mud off.

Uribe rips an absolute laser at the knees. Catches the inside of the plate. Ump calls a ball. I mean come on. 101 mph. Gorgeous. When do those Auto-Zones appear?
