AA Biloxi needs a win at home over Mississippi to tie the series 3-3. Solid 24-year old RHP Tobias Myers (2.86 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 11.9 K/9 in 22 IP) starts the finale. CF Carlos D. Rodriguez has a 14-game on-base streak.

The AAA Sounds lead Omaha 4-1 in this week’s home series and have LHP Robert Gasser (3.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 11.0 K/9 in 18 IP) making his 5th start this afternoon. 2B Abraham Toro has a 14-game hitting streak.

High-A Wisconsin stole a win yesterday, but still trail Beloit 4 games to 1. 22-year old RHP Joseph Hernandez (3.15 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 7.7 K/9 in 20 IP) makes his 5th start of the year.

A tight strike zone and patient Mississippi hitters are a bad combination, forcing Tobias Myers to throw 30+ pitches in the 1st inning and ultimately leading to a 3-run blast from slugger Drew Lugbauer. Oh my. Biloxi trail early.

Shucker hitters took note and advantage of the tight strike zone, loading the bases, before SS Freddy Zamora singled in 2 runs.

We trail 3-2 after 1 inning, with both pitchers throwing 30+ pitches that inning. Could be a looongg game.

Shoot. Tobias Myers gave up a double and triple in the 2nd inning, exiting early at 55 pitches. Hope he’s okay and they don’t want to over-work him.

LHP Nick Bennett is in the game. Biloxi trails 4-2.

C Jeferson Quero helped Bennett escape that inning by gunning down a runner, then led off the bottom of the 2nd inning by working the count full and hitting his 2nd homer of 2023. Biloxi climbs to within 4-3.

Third inning triples by Noah Campbell and Carlos D. Rodriguez, paired with several other productive at-bats, give Biloxi 4 runs in the inning. They lead 7-4.

RHP James Meeker has been replaced by a human, and his 31-game streak of not allowing an earned run (including 18 games in Australia) comes to an end on a first-batter homer. 7-5 Shuckers, 5th inning.

Harold Chirino pitching back to back days now for Biloxi. This makes me feel like it is something we should pay attention to. Chirino and Andrews are the only 2 RP to pitch on back to back days in the system so far and they have arguably been the 2 best RP in the system so far this season.

Biloxi might have the most formidable 7th, 8th, 9th inning pitchers in all of AA. Thompson, Chirino, and Uribe are absolutely dominating the competition this year. Today they combined to retire 9 straight with 7 SO.

Meeker gave up a HR to the first batter he faced and after that the bullpen retired 15 straight with 11 SO.

RF Tyrone Taylor just went yard, a 2-run, 5th inning shot to pull Nashville back into the game. They trail 5-3 after 5 innings.

Taylor’s been hit by a pitch, lined out to center and now homered. He’s nearly back.

Robert Gasser’s having his roughest game of the year thus far, so it was surprising to see Manager Sweet send him out for the 6th inning, when he was already at 83 pitches. The first 2 batters reached base, then he was finally pulled.

Only 1 scored though (well done Thyago Vieira) and the Sounds immediately responded with 2 runs in the bottom half on hits by Keston Hiura, Cam Devanney and Andruw Monasterio. Down just 6-5, headed to the 7th inning.

Yeah very questionable call from Sweet putting Gasser back out there.

Runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out down 6-5 in the 7th. Keston hit two foul balls that had HR distance to LF but eventually struck out in at bat.

With two down, Alvarez scored on a wild pitch. Toro took the free pass. Still two down. Toro and Singleton are on 1st and 2nd, respectively. Big spot for INF Cam Devanney.

Boy did Bukauskas get squeezed on a beautiful inside breaking ball with a lead-off full count. ABS that's a strike on the inside stripe. No challenge system in place today, naturally. Lead runner on here in the 8th for Omaha. Nobody down.

And, another classic fielding error - this time from Big Jon Singleton - in a very makable play. Wooof. Two men on. Nobody down. Singleton has to do better with that - a hard bunt down the first base line.

The ensuing batter rips an inside sinker (and high at that ) down the LF line. Cashing it in. Runners now on 2nd and 3rd still nobody out. 7-6 Omaha. Rough inning.
