Valerio drops an infield pop-up and the runner gets all the way to 3rd. No outs and a runner on 3rd for Rodriguez here to open the 2nd. Let's see if the can pitch his way out of this.

Jesus Chirinos with an error now for Wisconsin. Bad fielding seems to be a trend across the Brewers minor league system at the moment. Need that to get tightened up.

Zavier Warren is a butcher at 3B. Blows a ground ball hit right at him (that somehow gets scored as a double). Then has a grounder hit right to him with runners on 1st and 3rd. He manages to neither get the double play or hold the runner on 3rd base.

Just some brutal defense out of him at 3B.

Shuckers getting BABIP'd to death today. Have by far had the better contact of the two teams but so many line drives hit directly to OF instead of into the gaps and Montgomery's defense has been way better than Biloxi's which has been responsible for both of Rodriguez runs.

Chirinos has sadly been one my more disappointing players to start 2023. He was fantastic mid summer by his B-Day into the final weeks so maybe he is just a slow starter. But, his lack of urgency in the field has been very concerning - this error is just a part of lackadaisical jogs to cover the runner at 2B. Balls just sail past his glove and over his head. If he is  to successfully make the LT shift from behind the dish to the 1B position he really needs to up the urgency and focus.

Incredible pitching by Darrell Thompson. Gives up a double then single to lead off the 8th inning. 2nd and 3rd with no outs and Thompson proceeds to strike out the next 3 hitters.

I'm late on these lineups, but slipping them in for posterity sake. AA Biloxi tries for a 2-0 series lead in Montgomery, with RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez (2.12 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 13.2 K/9 in 17 IP) making his 5th start of the year. DH/3B Tyler Black continues his torrid form, hitting two extra base hits yesterday to lift his season OPS to 1.014 in 84 PAs.

Do not like that Campbell (a guy who already HR'd today and has been one of Biloxi's best hitters this season) bunted with runners on 1st and 2nd and 0 outs in the 10th inning.

Chourio struck out. Tyler Black was intentionally walked. Zavier Warren now up with 2 outs and bases loaded.

Warren hits a lazy fly ball to LF and Biloxi doesn't get any runs across in the 10th.

High-A Wisconsin has lost 8 of their last 10 games and needs a win today to tie their series in Peoria 1-1. RHP Cameron Wagoner (7.79 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 7.3 K/9 in 17.1 IP) gets his 5th start of 2023. The squad welcomes back SS Eric Brown Jr. for his first game back since a scary hit-by-pitch one week ago.

We're not going to start a five alarm fire, but, things are bleak in Wisconsin right now. Up and down that line-up the bats are essentially crickets. Fundamentally unsound baseball is happening in most games. Let's just hang our hats on: their bullpen has been really solid and several starting pitchers have also been rock solid (none more so than RHP Tyler Woessner) . But, if we're being honest, that's where it ends right now. Nice to see Eric Brown Jr. back in the line-up. Hopefully, he picks up where he left off pre-injury. A brief glimpse of brightness. I'm really really hoping they just get that one key hit in a RISP situation in one of their inevitable close games. They have a ways to go to dig themselves out of this early season rut. Here's hoping!

Biloxi K’d 19 Biscuits and lost. Shoot!!!

Also, 0-for-13 with RISP makes it, ummmm, challenging to come out roses. I see the Biscuits buttered up a 3-for-17 mark with RISP. That appears to have been the difference. I also see LHP Darrell Thompson went 1 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 4 K. It's nearing time they're going to have to advance him a level. He's been absurd early in 2023. What an Indy League find.

The Low-A Mudcats have won 11 of their last 15 games and seek a 2-0 series lead against Delmarva in Salisbury, Maryland. 19-year old RHP Yujanyer Herrera (2.55 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 8.2 K/9 in 17.2 IP) makes his 5th start of 2023. Table-setting 2B Daniel Guilarte (.301 AVG, .784 OPS in 87 PAs) has an 11-game hitting streak and has reached base in all 19 games this season.
