High-A Wisconsin has lost 6 games in a row and hosts the South Bend Cubs this week, with RHP Cameron Wagoner (8.69 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, 6.9 K/9 in 19.2 IP) starting tonight. C Darrien Miller has a 5-game hitting streak.

The Low-A Mudcats are home to take on Nationals' affiliate Fredericksburg this week, with 21-year old RHP Logan Henderson (3.95 ERA in 13.2 IP in 2022) making his season debut. 1B Tayden Hall (.267 AVG, .750 OPS in 40 PAs) also returns from injury for his first action since April 21.

AAA Nashville hosts Braves' affiliate Gwinnett this week, with LHP Thomas Pannone (2.35 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, 7.0 K/9 in 7.2 IP) starting the opener. SS Andruw Monasterio (.247 AVG, .747 OPS in 111 PAs) has homered in 2 of his last 3 games.

RHP Logan Henderson had two down. Gave up a line drive single to CF. Wild pitch in the dirt advanced the runner to 2nd. Walked 3B Brady House on 5 pitches. Men on first and second. Two down. He's having difficulty locating his change-up. On a full count, he misses high and outside and walks his 2nd batter and loads the bases. And, Henderson gets down 3-1 on his final batter of the first and induces a weak chopper to 3B where INF Jadher Areinamo makes a fine charging side-armed throw to 1B nabbing the runner by a couple steps.

And we have another postponement. Biloxi's game in Rocket City has been postponed due to over-saturated grounds. It's a wet one. This game will be made up, apparently, on Thursday May 11th.

RHP Logan Henderson is not sharp in his first outing. That's now his 3rd walk leading off the 2nd here. He had a 26 pitch 1st - largely due to 2 walks and elevated counts. He's just not in the zone. Not all that surprising given his lengthy lay off dating to late last summer.

It doesn't look like RHP Logan Henderson is going to make it past 1 1/3 IP and for good reason: he was not sharp. He was mostly missing the zone. He walks 4, gives up a line drive single, strikes out 2 but leaves after 43 pitches and men on first and second base with one down (both walked). Low-A stalwart, RHP Miguel Guerrero will try and clean up Henderson's inning.

It is going to take an absolute hammer of a shot to clear these outfield walls. There is a massive wind coming in from CF via a storm just south of Zebulon. I've seen two very well-hit Nats hits die like ducks in CF - 95 mph and 100 mph off the lumber.

LHP Thomas Pannone suffers from an absolute weak parachute bloop single to shallow right center and INF Abraham Toro is incapable of tracking and making the sliding catch. On the ensuing AB, INF Cam Devanney made a great stab and a classic laser shot throw to 1B and the 1B umpire trots directly in front of the first base. A perfect throw. A perfect dart about chest high to Singleton. AND, the first base umpire jogged directly in front of the bag eating the throw off his right hip. I've never seen that. What the heck was he doing?! Pannone suffers even more bad luck. Manager Rick Sweet is hot. Good grief. Unbelievable umpire tactic there. I mean, he trotted directly into the path of the throw. Why woule he ever trot in front of the first base bag there?!?  Pannone K's the next batter but sheeeeeeesh. What. The. Heck.

Another RHP Cameron Wagoner start and another extremely rough showing. It's unfortantely clockwork in 2023. He had two down and a man on first base after a single. He followed suit with a walk, a HBP, and another HBP to bring in his first run. It's a slow and ugly grind for Wagoner early in this season. T-Rats trail 0-1.

Fear not, however, 1B Jon Singleton and LF Keston Hiura went back-to-back over the right field wall giving the Sounds a 2-1 lead.

It gets worse for Wagoner: he gives up a bases clearing double. T-Rats trail 4-0. Man, Wagoner is struggling in 2023. He is in really rough waters right now. I would think a trip to the Development List, at minimum, is probably coming down the pipeline.

INF Eddy Alvarez misses a two-run jack and the third HR of the inning by about 6 feet. He rips a fly out to the wall in far right field. It's 2-1 Sounds and we head to the second inning.

Tell me if you've heard this before:

It gets even worse for RHP Cameron Wagoner. He just gave up a two-run bomb to right field. T-Rats trail 6-0. Whewwww the air is some kind of something in those T-Rats knocks of late. Tough sledding.

Somebody stop the pain. Wagoner just gave up the cycle with a follow-up triple. I kid you not. This is about as ugly as it gets for a starting pitcher in his first (and most likely, his only) inning of work. Yikes. Yup, Wagoner only makes it 2/3 IP. His ERA jumps past 11. I don't know what is next for Wagoner but this is not a pretty development for the young hurler in 2023.

RHP Luis Amaya, on in relief of the massively struggling Wagoner, says: I want to take you higher.

He gives up the ground ball single to Mendez in RF and it's 7-0 Cubs and we are still in the top of the first inning.

INF Andruw Monasterio extends his hitting streak to seven games with a 2-rbi seeing-eye single through the left side and into shallow left field. It's now 5-1 Sounds. They are looking quite comfortable against the Braves 10th ranked prospect, LHP Dylan Dodd.

RHP Tyler Wehrle just worked around a no outs bases loaded jam here in the top of the 5th (two singles and a free pass). He gets three straight K's swinging. Whewwwww dang that was some fine work. Really nice mix too. That's an incredible escape.

INF Cam Devanney plays such a beautiful 3B. I'm telling y'all. He's the best pure third base prospect in the system. So smooth. Great range from his adept SS playing experience. And, yes, an absolute cannon. He just made two sublime double play grabs and darts to 2B. Very difficult plays and he made it look routine.

RHP Tyler Wehrle just tried to make a charging play on a weak bunt and turn and fire to 3B. A good throw gets him. Unfortunately, that throw went to the wall in 3B territory down the line. The throwing error scores the first run of the game and now there's a runner at 2B. 1-0 Nats. Mudcats trail in the 6th.

And, Wehrle is running into trouble after his escape work the inning prior. That's a double to the gap in left center. Men on 2nd and 3rd (2nd double of his inning) 2-0 Nats. Nobody out. That's a lot of runners on the pillow in Wehrle's two innings of work.

OF Monte Harrison, after hitting some absolute rockets in the St. Paul road series, is finally awarded his first long ball. He smashes a HR line drive just over the right field wall and grabs rbi's 3 and 4. The Sounds now lead 7-1. Last week, let's remind everyone: LHP Dylan Dodd had a quality start with the Braves at the MLB level. This is a really nice offensive outburst from the Sounds bats.

Bases juiced for C Matt Wood. Carolina trails 4-0 after Wehrle's rough 2nd inning. Can Wood come through clutch? Well, yes. He walks on four straight pitches. It's 4-1 and INF Daniel Guilarte is coming to the dish. It looks like a new pitcher is in store. Guilarte can't come through as he hits a weak chopper down the 1B line and the pitcher bobbles it but scoops it to 1B in plenty of time. The threat ends. Mudcats trail 4-1.

There isn't a single Sound hitting the ball harder and cleaner than OF Monte Harrison going on two series now. He's 3-for-3 tonight and all three are rockets. It's really nice to see him being rewarded after he hit some absolute rockets in St. Paul - including the 4th hardest hit ball in all the Minor Leagues in 2023 with a 116.2 mph line drive single into LF. It's really nice to see him get comfortable and find success. He has a single, a smashed double to deep left center, and a laser shot line drive two-run jack over the right field wall. He also just swiped 3B and then went home when the ball was thrown with nobody covering the bag. The Stripers look every part of their record tonight. Evidence:

Keston Hiura now has 28 rbi in 29 games played in Nashville. He just ripped a line drive single past the diving Grissom in to LF. His torrid pace continues. He's now hitting 0.324 with a 1.083 OPS. Oh, hey, he also hit his 11th home run in the Singleton-to-Hiura back-to-back. That's now back-to-back Sounds games, to boot, with back-to-back HR jacks. Noice!
