@Smichaelis9: Here's a look at our 'Energizer' bunny

Looks like Bob Moore is going to have some competition for prettiest compact lefty stroke.

His swing reminds me a ton of somebody, and all day since I saw that video on Twitter I've been trying to figure out who it is lol. It's a major leaguer, and I believe a current one. Really annoying me 😂

Adam Frazier maybe? Or maybe he's just the first short lefty that comes to mind.

It's not Frazier. It's someone who finishes with 1 hand on their bat a lot. I can't think of who it is either but when I saw that video it looked so familiar

He was literally the first name I thought of too. I checked some video of him right away, but like @wiguy94 said, the one hand finish is different and that was a big part of what I was thinking of.

23-year old RHP Justin Jarvis (3.33 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 in 75.2 AA innings) makes his AAA debut as Nashville looks for a 2-1 series lead at home over Columbus. Rehabbing DH/OF Tyrone Taylor has homered in 3 of his past 4 games.

RHP Tobias Myers is the latest pitch asked to throw on relatively short rest (he gave up 9 runs in 3.2 IP five days ago). AA Biloxi is at Pensacola, seeking a 2-1 series lead. SS Freddy Zamora’s hitting streak is now 10 games.

The swing he actually reminded me of was ol' Scooter Gennett who used to, if you recall, always drop that lefty swing to one hand by swing's end. I mean, if you break down their swings, they are pretty dang similar. At least by my eyes. Obviously the size and stature plays there too. And, with O'Rae clearly putting on some mass I wonder if his power could eventually play?

Anyhow, Scoots hasn't played since 2019 if I recall.

Low-A Carolina is underway as they host Fayetteville, with RHP Jeferson Figueroa (3.38 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, 13.5 K/9 in 18.2 IP) making his first start of 2023.

INF Gregory Barrios is back in the line-up after a 'plunked on the leg bruise' day off. And, OF Hedbert Perez gave us a two-run shot early. 3-0 Mudcats in the early going.

Gennett's swing is actually super similar to Rae's and he always did that one handed follow through as well. Maybe that's who it is.

RHP Justin Jarvis is getting knocked around early - not all that surprising to me given what I've seen from the Columbus offense in the first two games. 3 IP, 5 H, 3 BB, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 K. 73 pitches. This is what's to be expected as he tries to get his feet wet. The Clippers are a very good offense.

Any idea what set off the brawl with Valera during the 3rd inning???

BTW the Clippers are an average offense at this point with Bo Naylor (& others up) with the big league club. They just happened to get on a roll this week.

Just watching his AB right now.

Pretty sure it all starts because C Alex Jackson definitely did not appreciate how Valera was taking his sweet ol' time getting into the batters box. Jarvis likes to work fast. The Clippers weren't letting him. He took his lullaby time to get into the box on an 0-2. Then wound up his stance. And, then called a TO. Jackson was ticked. The words started there. Uribe really stepped in there to defend Jackson - he'll get props from teammates there. BUT, given the state of the Sounds pitching staff that suspension will hurt.

Also: Valera is definitely the one who took it over the line. It was just bickering. A vocal disagreement. He broke his stance while the ump was getting balls back to home plate. And he stood up over Jackson. Jackson didn't back down. Valera then tried to poke him through his mask. Jackson kept coming. Valera then took several swings at him. Jackson had enough at that point.😅 And then Uribe came sprinting into the Clippers entire team looking to die on his sword. 😅

Valera has missed most of the season with multiple injuries and has had multiple hamate injuries over the past few years.  He is definitely trying to get back into a good productive place & has had limited success this season.

A fan at the game tweeted a 45 second video of the brawl but nothing indicated what had started it.  Thanks for the info..

Yeah, Valera is going to be in some serious trouble there. He was swinging at Jackson with the ump trying to stand between them. Not a good look. He lost his cookies there for whatever reasons.

You also really have to feel for Jarvis there. He was in a 1-2 count with two down. Then there's this massive melee. Then a massive gap. And there pitching staff is already in shambles with over worked arms. He lost it from there. A real bummer for his debut.

Boy, OF Hendry Mendez just missed the cycle and a walk-off 3-run oppo blast by about a 1/4" on the barrel. Mehring really wanted that one. It dies halfway into the warning track directly down the LF line. We're onto the 12th inning. Tied at 6. Big games for Mendez and Bob Moore. Martinez Jr. extended his hitting streak to 12 games as well. Moore is now in the midst of a 24 game on base streak after extending it tonight (I think?).

Yeah that's about it. Earlier in the count there were possible words but upon retrospect the complaining could have been that Jackson had to start throwing down signs because the auto system was malfunctioning (at least announcer Jeff Hem alluded to that). I mean Valera had no business trying to go at Jackson who had a clear beef advantage - not to mention in he's in full catcher's garb.😂

I took a peak at Scooter’s 4 homer game and it’s very possible he’s who I was thinking of. I think there’s an active guy still, but Scooter’s fits the bill either way!

Good night for Biloxi at Pensacola:

2 IP, 0 H, 1 B, and 4 K for RHP Cam Robinson.

Let's go young fella!

Chourio with a double and a HR

Warren hits another long ball.

Campbell goes deep.

LHP Luis Amaya with another scoreless outing.

10-4 win and they take the 2-1 series lead.0

Was that Charlie Greene who carried Uribe out of the melee?

Sucks that Jackson will likely be suspended, as he couldn’t really know that Valera was about to have a complete and utter meltdown.

Valera‘s the #2 prospect in the Guardians’ system, so he’ll likely be back this year. If he was some mediocre guy, he might have found himself in the Frontier League for turning it into a boxing match despite the umpire being between them.
