Do we know what is up with Eric Lauer?  He has not pitched since 6/11 after two poor starts with AAA.  I thought maybe they have him in the pitching lab to try to get him straight.  He's listed as on the "Temporary Inactive List" on the Sounds website so maybe, though I think they normally would have the player on the "development list".  It would be nice to get him back for the playoff run as a depth reliever or spot starter.  Rather that then they trade a prospect again for a Dan Norris type pitcher

There really isn't anything factual out there. He was optioned after those rehab starts and hasn't pitched since. If he was injured still they wouldn't have  been able to option him so kind of bizarre.

Lauer was placed on the inactive list for Triple-A Nashville as he works through an undisclosed health issue, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

He last pitched for Nashville on June 11 but gave up seven earned runs on 12 hits and four walks over 4.2 innings in his last two appearances, so Lauer may have been at less than 100 percent at that time. He should be considered out indefinitely.

From a few different places around the end of June.

Whatever the health issue is it seems like it's probably not directly baseball related.

If he was less than 100% during that June 11th game he would not have been able to be optioned on the 14th. I guess it could be not related to baseball as you mention.

That does make sense.  If this is a personal issue (and lets not speculate beyond that), then it would make sense why reporters are not discussing it.  If it was a baseball related injury, he would be on the major league IL.  In any event, it does not sound like he is close to returning and likely wont be an option in any trades.  That's too bad.  Hope for a speedy return.

I believe it's still the right shoulder impingement. That's what has been reported.

He came off the IL, was optioned down to AAA and then was put on the inactive list for the Sounds after a couple outings while he "works through a physical issue," according to MLB.com.

I think he'd be an ideal trade candidate this offseason to try and find a couple lottery ticket prospects from a team looking to fill out its rotation.

Basically, get out from his final arbitration year contract and move on.  He has been really good but also maddeningly inconsistent and I Jared over the past 1.5 years.

Yeah, I think he's more likely a non-tender candidate if he doesn't throw again, but this is a strange situation.

Lets see if he can even get on the mound again. The whole "right shoulder" impingement causing such a loss in velo and resulting in him performing so poorly is strange. I can't remember a pitcher with a relatively minor injury to their non-throwing shoulder resulting in such a drop in performance and inability to pitch.

Whatever the truth is, we can directly blame the hader trade for whatever has befallen him.
