Chourio is facing Perez again this year having taken him deep the third time through the order in their first encounter... can he dominate a recent major league stud?

In the DSL, Brewers Dos are currently 4-1 up on the Red Sox affiliates, Demetrio Nadal with yet another extra base hit, as well as stealing third base and hit by pitch. His OPS is currently at 1.128

Demetrio Nadal is what they call 'on One' in 2023. DSL Cerveceros Dos Game 2 is currently delayed but he was 1-for-1 with a 2B and a BB. He's an extremely under-discussed 19-year-old in the Brewers system. He took last year's 29 K: 22 BB script and flipped it (so far) to 15 BB : 8 K. He is hitting 0.382 with a 1.133 OPS in 98 PA's through the 5th inning today. He has 24 SB to 4 CS. In 12 games as a 3B he has a 1.000 fielding %.

It's time to start noticing.

And, this has been my public service announcement for the Brewers fandom community.

*ALSO: Hats off to MiLB and MLB for the new look in-game box scores and game logs. Supper sleek new appearance!

Let us all remember CF Jackson Chourio's last AB in his first encounter with Marlins phenom, RHP Eury Perez , back on April 15th earlier this season:

If I recall, correctly, this was a fun moment.😁

Is this a rehab start for Eury Perez? What is he doing pitching in AA again?

They have him in the minors to limit his innings. I'm guessing he's in AA instead of AAA because the marlins AA affiliate is in Pensacola Florida.

He was also there earlier in the year, so maybe from a familiarity standpoint with the coaches, clubmates etc

Adam McCalvy has a piece out today the quotes Matt Arnold in regards to Jacob Misiorowski and the possibility of seeing action in Milwaukee this year.  Interesting insight as he touches on the major league stuff he possesses while still working on his command.  Not something I expected to hear but would be an interesting addition to say the least.

From the article, HERE (for those interested):

Quote

“I don’t remember anyone like that,” Flanagan said, referring to a player who jumped from Single-A to the Majors in a single season. “But again, it’s a special arm. If things line up, we wouldn’t close the door to that. We always tell the guys when they get to Double-A, you’re one call away.”

Innings limit but also they are manipulating his service time so he isn't a Super 2 candidate.

Before we start getting into the continuation of a previous game versus the Fayetteville Woodpeckers today (game will start in the top of the 2nd) for the Mudcats game 1 of 2, let's take a quick look at another wonderful series recap from the Mudcats Media team. This from last week's 5-1 series victory at Columbia:

The first game of the day features the Low-A Mudcats and Astros’ affiliate Fayetteville playing the remaining 6 innings of a game suspended after one inning on July 9 with Carolina leading 2-0.

21-year old RHP Alexander Vallecillo (3.82 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 9.9 K/9 in 35.1 IP) got the call to continue from the top of the 2nd inning.

Alexander Vallecillo covered 4 1/3 innings today, giving up 3 runs as the quiet offense coughed up the lead 3-2.

But Jesus Chirinos tripled and scored in the bottom of the 5th inning to re-tie the game 3-3.

Yes, we’re the “home” team in this 7-inning contest in Fayetteville. RHP Chase Costello is pitching now.

How can you not be thrilled to have CF Luis Lara in the Brewers organization. He is so incredibly fun to watch. He just ripped a liner into RF and from the get go you knew he was thinking double. The RF was slow to get there, slow to turn, and inaccurate on the throw. Lara is now 2-for-3. Stud.

OF Luis Castillo just hit a slider into RF - perfectly placed up the middle infield if unspectacularly smacked - scoring Lara from 2B. A nice two-out rbi. The Mudcats now lead 4-3 in this abbreviated contest. That was a huge run. Three more outs and it's pay dirt.

Wisconsin plays at Cubs’ affiliate South Bend this week, with LHP Nate Peterson (2.91 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 10.7 K/9 in 46.1 IP) getting his 2nd start in High-A ball. C Matt Wood comes in riding a 13-game on-base streak.

Costello closes it out after a broken bat flare made it into RF. Mudcats win Game 1 4-3 in 6 1/2 innings baby. Let's GO Mudcats! I am here for a push to make the post-season. I am unabashed in my excitement.😅

AAA Nashville hosts Rays’ affiliate Durham this week and welcomes 2 rehabbing Brewers to today’s game: starting RHP Brandon Woodruff and 3B Brian Anderson. C Alex Jackson was just traded to the opposing dugout a few minutes ago, so there will be at least one pre-game lineup change.

AA Biloxi plays at Marlins’ affiliate Pensacola this week, with Game 1 featuring a face-off between 20-year old RHP Eury Perez (2.36 ERA with 61 Ks in 53.1 MLB innings) and 19-year old CF Jackson Chourio, two of the top prospects in baseball. 24-year old RHP Christian Mejias (6.41 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 9.8 K/9 in 87 IP) gets the start for the Shuckers.

After winning the opening game of today’s pseudo-doubleheader, the Mudcats and Woodpeckers come right back at it for a 7-inning Game Two battle, with 20-year old RHP Jesus Rivero (2.73 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 13.7 K/9 in 26.1 IP) making his first-ever Low-A start.

LHP Nate Peterson just gave up a deep triple to the wall in CF and then gave up a two-run bomb over the wall in LF on his first pitch to the next batter. 2-0 Cubbies here in the 1st.

Going to need @Joseph Zarr to confirm this for everyone, but Jesus Rivero's stuff looks absolutely filthy. I feel like I am not being hyperbolic when I say his stuff might even look better than Logan Henderson's on this Carolina team
