Now his front foot is even further open then it was earlier in the year.

His bad mechanics have gotten even worse as the season has progressed.

It seems that way. Wiemer is all go, all the time. He has no 2-strike approach to speak of. And it seems he's virtually never getting ahead in the count. People are clamoring for him to not be here, and I don't blame them considering how he's looked. But I wish they'd realize he probably never should have been up here in 2023 to begin with. Urias got hurt, which opened up his spot, then Mitchell went down for the year. He's an elite defender, which they value. So they lived with the incomplete offensive game, which has gotten worse as the league gets a book on him. It may be time for Perkins, now that he's back playing. We'll see.

Freaking bunt with wiemer.   My god

I doubt there's a bigger advocate on this board for bunting than I am. But I have to agree with CC, who was talking about it once & mentioned how you need for the guy who you're asking to bunt, to actually be able to do it. I wouldn't be surprised if Wiemer hasn't bunted since he was seven years old. I wish more players had it in their toolkit, and were forced to at least try to become competent at it. But they aren't, and yeah, it ticks me off.

Perkins can play defense like Wiemer……he’s a switch hitter and he can run.

I know this……if the season was on the line and I had to choose Perkins or Wiemer to get a hit or a walk…..to keep the season going I’m choosing Perkins.

Tough loss…….the key run scores because Santana slips into the dugout and advances a runner.

if that run doesn’t score we might still be playing……lol

Brewers get to spring training in February. If guys can't bunt it's because the manager has not made the player work to develop it. Unacceptable to just say he can't do it so strike out.

It isn't a Brewer thing. It's industry-wide. I don't like it, but CC isn't any different from any other manager in that regard.

Done well, in the proper times, it can win games. But it doesn't make you a lot of money come arbitration time, or when you hit FA. Sad, but that's the priority. Guys who don't want to put the time in to become adequate at it will gladly spend an entire off-season rebuilding their swing to increase their launch angle.

I should've also mentioned Greg Allen (let go by the Yanks & now at Nashville) as a possibility. IF they look to replace Wiemer, Allen & Perkins are sorta interchangeable. Perkins (probably) a better defender.

Unfortunately for Wiemer, anyone in the position group looks like a better AB right now, including Perkins.

Blake Perkins is on the 10 day IL. with an oblique strain, maybe that is what Counsell is waiting for.

Our only real other choices are Canha or Tyrone Taylor but at this point why not.  I think Counsell is

doing it only for defensive purposes.  I know Tyrone Taylor had that elbow issue not sure if that is 100%.

LATEST NEWS

Sept. 13: OF Mark Canha undergoes MRI on wrist
Canha left Tuesday's game against the Marlins with a sore left wrist and underwent an MRI on Wednesday morning that revealed no structural damage. He received a cortisone shot and will have to let that work for several days before picking up a bat again on Friday. Based on past flare-ups of the same wrist, Canha said he doesn't anticipate a lengthy absence.

With Canha down, the Brewers were missing a pair of outfielders, since Christian Yelich remained sidelined by a stiff -- but rapidly improving -- lower back. Yelich went through a pregame routine of running and hitting on Wednesday and was nearing a comeback, manager Craig Counsell said.

Sept. 12: OF Blake Perkins, 1B Darin Ruf, OF Jesse Winker begin rehab assignments at Triple-A Nashville
There were 20 days remaining in the regular season as of Tuesday, which explains the timing of the start of 20-day rehab assignments for a trio of players on the injured list, each of whom could be an emergency option in a potential postseason situation, should they be needed.

Sept. 11: OF Garrett Mitchell nearing game action, pending clearance
The Brewers remain hopeful that the speedy center fielder could contribute before the end of the season as Mitchell continues his comeback from left shoulder surgery in May. Mitchell has a doctor's appointment scheduled for Thursday or Friday, manager Craig Counsell said, at which time the club expects him to receive clearance to begin playing games at Triple-A Nashville. The Sounds' regular season runs through Sept. 24, one week before the end of the Major League regular season.

"We’re very likely to, we’re hopeful, of getting a ‘start playing’ that day," Counsell said. "If he gets a thumbs up, the final clearance, he's obviously already doing a lot, taking live at-bats, running around, so if he gets the game action clearance, he would start at Nashville [the next day]. ...

"Garrett is coming back from a serious injury. What I’m encouraged by is he’s going to get 10 or so days of possible game action. There will be some days off in there, obviously. But the more he can play, the more he’s going to learn about, ‘Am I good? Is this still affecting me?’ The game will tell him that. We’ve certainly got to clear that first and see how that goes.’

It WAS an out. Runners advance a base if the ball is carried out of play after a catch.

Ah.  We had the Marlin announcers and they didn't explain it very well.  It will be nice to get OUR announcers tomorrow.
