Does anyone really think Carlson is a markedly better kicker than Crosby?

First month or two of the season he was fine, but lately yeah, he needs to be better.

This kicker sucks. I haven't seen anything positive about him. Even that 53 yard attempt barely had the distance. Modern kickers should have way more leg. That kick off only made it to the 10, but maybe that was planned.

So the kicking game has left 4 points on the board.

We’ll see if that comes back to bite us

Yeah, both teams have had opportunities to take control of the game and have shot themselves in the foot.

Like what is the point of short kickoffs anymore? You can fair catch anything and take it at the 25.

Part of it too is that Crosby made about 4M a year, Anders makes 800K.

I think the fact that Crosby still isn't employed probably tells you the market for his services relative to whatever salary he's seeking.

A team in transition/rebuild has no need to be paying 4M a year to a 39 year old kicker.

I agree with this, no reason to pay Mason 4 million to be on this team. I don't think Carlson is good enough to become a good NFL kicker. He just doesn't seem to have enough distance.

And in the blink of an eye the defense will surrender the lead.

Or the Chargers can shoot themselves in the foot again. Both teams are doing their darndest to give this game away.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Crosby didn't need to be replaced, and I've been a staunch defender of his. His game was slipping. I'm just saying Carlson ain't it.

Bears front office called down to tell them to stop trying

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

No sadly this is how nearly every game has gone all season for the Bears minus the Washington game.
