12/2/23 Marquette @ Wisconsin game thread

Posted

Let's get it on.

Marquette is the better basketball team this year.  They were the better basketball team last year too. It's basically a pick 'em according to the numbers, but it sure seems like UW should be a home dog.  I'll be surprised if either team wins by more than 5.

Wisconsin has had two wildly different teams. One that's hitting open shots, playing with energy, moving. The other that's just flat and plays the same ugly style of basketball, but plays it sloppy.

Marquette should win by 10 on talent, but this series seems like the better team seldom plays to expectations.

I'm looking forward to it. I know I'm meant to hate Marquette but I don't. I like watching them play.

There's no doubt in my mind that UW can win the game. But there's also no doubt they"ll have to play really well to do so.

The way the Badgers' defense has trended upward in the last handful of games has to continue. Take care of the ball; no cheap transition buckets off turnovers. Make them score in the half court.

This MIGHT be a game where we see them go a little smaller at times. Blackwell & Storr on the floor together would be interesting.

So long as they play well, win or lose, this game should give us a sense of the ceiling for this Badger team.

I think the ceiling is high for this team no matter what happens today. Heck, after re-watching much of last years victory at MU, the ceiling for LAST years team was pretty high. Hopefully Gard will push the right buttons to actually realize that ceiling.

These refs are calling every little ticky tack foul. I hate that. They're gonna call 40 fouls by the end of this thing.

I would love to see Gard play Blackwell and Storr together more. This is a perfect matchup to see them together

I keep hearing this...but did you see Max Klesmit score 21 pts in the first half?

The additions of Storr and Blackwell really raise the ceiling of this squad.

Now have enough depth to still have something in the tank later in the season.

Also, there is a reason Wisconsin likes big guys who are fundamentally sound.  Just a dominant performance on the glass today, very similar to the Virginia game.

Yeah Klesmit was great. Playing those two together doesn’t have to mean Klesmit is the one who has to sit. Also doesn’t mean they always have to play together. I would just like to see it certain situations
