I'm also pretty sure that deep td to kittle was a blown coverage by the safety....he needed to be back deep instead of jumping the shallow out.

Maybe. I could see him thinking to jump the short route with a blitz on but, yeah, no, that blitz had no chance from the start.

They’re in the game even with wasted red zone possessions. Hard to imagine that any of us wouldn’t have taken being down one point at halftime as a worst case scenario. But that’s basically where the game stands after two quarters.

The offense needs to figure out how to put the ball in the end zone, preferably a couple times. Can’t expect too much more from the defense than forcing an empty possession or two. Both of those scenarios aren’t impossible. The game is there to be taken.

The rain is definitely impacting Purdy throwing the ball, and the footing....gotta get a turnover.

Samuel out with that shoulder is also huge - seemed like they were going to him often in those short swing passes and him out of the lineup takes them away from their original gameplan a bit.

It's just the 49ers being more stout in the red zone compared to recent opponents - Love isn't getting enough time for some of these plays to free up receivers.  Would like to see a back shoulder fade or jump ball to Watson down there when it starts getting compressed - at least take 1 shot at it.

Watson or line up Musgrave outside and throw it up to him. Ward is tough, so I don't know about testing him, but you've got 3 guys who are 6'4-6'5.

But I trust Love to make plays down there. If we can get a stop here, the momentum swings back to the Packers. That's a BIIIG if.

It seems the game plan is to once again control the clock but it's costing them stalling in the red zone. I think they need to take more shots downfield once they get past the 50. It's working between the 20s anyway.

The 1 and goal at the 9 always sucks but in this scenario with how things have worked I'd have probably run 3 times.

That looked like just straight-man coverage(which...Savage got beat, so maybe that's what you mean by blown coverage).

I like the play-call, but I'd rather you blitz into Purdy's face. Put someone on Trent(Smith or LVN) and then overload the other side. But pressure that doesn't get home and man coverage vs this team is not a good mix.

HUUUGE stop there. Gary applying some pressure off the edge, DL up the middle! Massive-massive drive now for the Packers.

1st down-PA pass

Come back to Jones.

Zero points out of the last two drives for the Niners. That's a huge sigh of relief.

Yeah, we’re hanging tough.  Sloppy conditions, Niners aren’t exactly razor sharp.  Longer we string this out, the better it might be.  Maybe we end up needing just one late break.

Let's punch it in the endzone now.  Really get them the biners on the back foot for the second half

Hopefully, we look back at that being the turning point(not the FGs or 4th and 1 stop).

Could have easily been 21-6 with those two possessions. Would have been in the past.

I was hoping that'd lead to a 1st down...but I guess back to Jones? Or PA to Kraft in the flat?

It kind of was, but Johnson the safety jumped on the short route.  Savage did look like he was upset about lack of help, so I'm doubting that was the intended plan with the expectation them going short because of blitz pressure.

That was weird.  Should have just bootlegged and then he could have walked for a first.

Ok...I missed that then. Terrible stop on that Reed reverse.
