What would we put as a value on Peguro? It seems like harder throwing 7/8 inning guys are going for a ton right now.

Yimi Garcia just was traded for Jonathan Clase and a lower value catcher. (Clase is a near top 100 prospect in my book)

Hunter Harvey got Cayden Wallace and a comp a pick (Caleb Lomavita)

Peguero being 6 years younger and 4 more year of control than Yimi and 2 years younger and 3 more years of contol than Harvey.

Maybe I am higher on Clase and Wallace but I wouldnt mind trying Peguero if we got a package better than the Harvey deal.

Peguero
76 ERA- | 96 FIP- | +0.21 WPA

Garcia
68 ERA- | 63 FIP- | +1.83 WPA

Harvey
103 ERA- | 80 FIP- | +0.51 WPA

Yimi is on a whole other level of performance from the other two.

Peguero might be able to fetch a return in the neighborhood of Harvey, but teams likely see their respective ERA/FIP gaps and believe Hunter is in line for positive regression while Elvis is a candidate to fade down the stretch from a run prevention standpoint.

Harvey also has a little longer track record of success with 100 IP of 63 ERA- | 65 FIP- work over the last two years versus Peguero at 61 IP of 77 ERA- | 86 FIP- in his breakout last year.

Can we not throw Ashby’s name in trade discussions? Look at his stat line, he’s a disaster in AAA and has 18 million dollars of guaranteed money remaining on his contract after this year.

No team would agree to assume that mess unless the Brewers had a real sweetener in the pot.

Similar situation with Hoskins. He’s guaranteed a good chunk of money still. He can’t run, he’s not their best first baseman and he has barely hit better than replacement level. Unless the Brewers are going to include talent to move his contract they’re most likely stuck with him.

Agreed.  I just laugh whenever I see someone mention Ashby as some type of valuable piece going back in a trade deal.  Trust me folks....no other team wants to touch Ashby at this point, unless if the Brewers are eating up ALL of his remaining contract!  And even then, he'd literally be a "throw-in" to any type of deal right now.

Anyone think that Max Scherzer is available?

Are the Rangers selling?  If so, then I'd love to nab Scherzer!!!

Kansas City Royals acquired RHP Michael Lorenzen from the Texas Rangers for LHP Walter Pennington.
The Royals are holding onto one of the final wild card spots and wanted to improve on Alec Marsh in the final spot in their rotation, so they went out and landed Lorenzen. The 32-year-old has experience in the bullpen and the rotation but currently holds a 3.87 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a 74/48 K/BB ratio across 97 2/3 innings with the Rangers. It’s a literal move for Lorenzen in terms of fantasy appeal since he remains on a solid team in a good pitcher’s park; however, he should get an easier schedule moving into the AL Central which isn’t such a bad thing.

Scherzer already said he's not waiving his no-trade clause again.

Which in all actuality, means nothing.  If he thinks the Rangers are going nowhere, you really think he says no to a trade that puts him on a contender? (not just the Brewers, but any team...)

Rangers are still hanging in the fringes of the playoff race. And I don't see why we shouldn't take him at his word when he's 40 years old and has done everything he can in this game, including winning his second WS title just last year. There's a reason why we're hearing nothing from insiders about the possibility of him being traded.
