The Low-A Mudcats get us started today, aiming to finish off a 5-1 home series win over Down East. RHP Yorman Galindez ( 2 ER with 4 Ks in 2.2 IP last week) gets the start, while we wonder whether RHP Ryan Birchard will throw long relief. CF Yophery Rodriguez has an .875 OPS in 32 PAs, though he’s K’d 13 times. This is UT Kay-Lan Nicasia’s first start at first base since he joined the Brewers in 2021.

High-A Wisconsin gets a 3rd and final chance to clinch a series win in South Bend, with RHP Edwin Jimenez (3 ER with 4 Ks in 6 IP last week) getting this afternoon’s start. 1B Jesus Chirinos is off to a decent start: .774 OPS with 5 RBIs in 20 PAs.

The AAA Sounds need a win in Memphis today to salvage a 3-3 series tie. RHP Chad Patrick pitched 3 scoreless innings last week, but somewhat oddly exited after throwing just 35 pitches. Let’s see if his leash is longer today. Owen Miller (.843 OPS in 53 PAs) makes his 2nd start at the hot corner in the past 4 days.

RHP TJ Shook took a loss last week despite only allowing 1 run in 4.2 IP (with 5 Ks), so he’s looking for better run support today. A 3rd straight win for AA Biloxi at Mississippi would give them a series draw. CF Eduardo Garcia certainly has my attention with his strong start (.872 OPS in 23 PAs).

After conceding a run in the 1st inning, Eric Haase quickly rights Nashville’s ship with a 3-run shot in the 2nd inning. Sounds up 3-1.

Luke Adams delivered a 3-run blast as part of Wisconsin’s 4-run 1st inning, but Edwin Jimenez is uncharacteristically roughed up for 4 runs in the bottom half of the inning. Apologies to anyone who got to the South Bend stadium late.

Yophery Rodriguez with another 3x on base afternoon. And no strikeouts! Very early, but slash line now at .344/.432/.531. He'll be 18 this entire season. For reference, another 18 year old prodigy in our system named Chourio was still in extended spring training at this stage of the season.

Tyler Black with three hits today and another walk.  He just keeps on keeping on.  The issue is where he fits in with the current MLB club?

Bauers out, Black in — eventually.

Yeah. Black is a better hitter and more versatile defensively. It will happen eventually.

I'd rather have Black up and playing in the OF over Wiemer.

Tight Game 6 battle in Pearl, Mississippi. Biloxi leads 4-3 after James Meeker gave them two nice innings. Justin Yeager is in to hopefully close it out.

Tricky 9th inning (opening walk, 3-0 count to next batter), but Yeager successfully shut the door. 👍

And that’s a 4-0 Sunday Sweep for our minor league squads!

I guess the organization wants to give him every opportunity to stick in the infield. He’s been ok-ish at 1B it seems, but given his athleticism I think he would be fine in left field

That was just a huge series and performance by the young upstart Mudcats. Well done and major kudos to new manager Nick Stanley. Facing their arch nemesis of the past two seasons - an older and more experienced Down East squad - they take 5 of 6?

Zastryzny and Paredes have been phenomenal for the Sounds. Absolutely phenomenal.

AND, I'm sorry, there is just no way in hyeck you can explain to me in any reasonable and rational way why Wiemer earned a call up over Hicklen. That is a pure prospect hype over actual production move and I am not a fan. Wiemer just did not earn the call. Hicklen absolutely did and continues to do so.

7 more SB for the T-Rats today. You have to love how aggressive Estevez has been with a lineup that lacks pop. The group is just scrapping and they play a very entertaining old school/new school blend of ball. 3B Mike Boeve is very quietly hitting 0.481 with a 1.019 OPS. He is really growing on me - he hasn't been driving the ball quite like I'd prefer to see but he is making many heady plays and executing smart AB's (another SF today) that. My concern currently falls to the wayside.

RHP Craig Yoho and RHP Yerlin Rodriguez may be our most exciting relievers in the entire system right now. Very early, obviously, but both are killing it and looking electric in doing so.

Wiemer was on the 40-man and Hicklen was not and the 40-man is full.

I feel like Boeve makes really consistent solid contact. He's just in the 10-15 LA a ton. From what I have watched so far, he's easily had the hardest contact on that Wisconsin roster.

.......And Chris Roller is on the 40-man & was just injured. I assume (hope) he would've gotten the call otherwise.

There are 4-5 spots I have a question with on the 40. Not that all 4 or 5 should be jettisoned, but any one of them could've made room for Hicklen. I guess if Yelich isn't IL'ed the issue will go away, but it cost them on Sunday.

If he continues to turn in the work he has & Milwaukee needs a LHRP I'm hoping Zastryzny doesn't fall victim to the same issue that resulted in Wiemer being up. I may be wrong but it seems like adding a pitcher to the 40 man happens a little more often than a position player being added. Maybe because nowadays half or more of your 40 are pitchers.

Glad to see my guy Luke finally break through. With Black playing more & more 1B, suddenly that position has some organizational depth to it.
