Wisconsin must turn the tide in South Bend today to get back into the series they presently trail 3-1. RHP Yujanyer Herrera is ready for his 4th appearance (2nd start) in High-A ball (1.59 ERA with 15 Ks in 11.1 IP thus far). 3B Jadher Areinamo has 6 hits and 5 RBIs over his last 3 games.

The ACL Brewers and ACL Padres are squaring off for the 2nd straight day, with the Brewers still (apparently) having only one healthy position player on the bench (Alastre yesterday, Lameda today).

CF Antony Gomez has homered for a 2nd straight day. Well done to him.

RHP Felipe de los Santos and his incoming 23.63 ERA got the start. But 3 ER in 1.2 IP actually lowered his season ERA (heaven help us).

21-year old RHP Dencer Geraldo made his stateside debut and first game action since June 10 last year: 3 ER in 0.1 IP. Gulp.

We’ve hit 6 Padres by HBPs. Oh my.

We’re actually out-hitting them (the singles, doubles, triples, homers type) 5-to-3, but trail 8-to-4. RF Gery Holguin has 3 singles to lift his average to .220. He was also picked off.

Yes, our opponents have 8 runs on 3 hits

And now 1B Johan Barrios has homered, giving him 3 in 2 days. I’m guessing he was dealing with some sort of injury to start this ACL season, as his playing time was oddly limited.

The ACL games yesterday and today are both 7-inning affairs, by the way.

We trail 8-5 in the top of the 6th inning.

Let’s see how RHP Yorman Galindez of follows up his 10-K, 1 R performance from last week, this time trying to lead the Low-A Mudcats to a 3-2 home series lead over Myrtle Beach. SS Cooper Pratt has a 6-game hitting streak.

The AA Shuckers can’t seem to buy a win, so let’s try the Beach Chickens. RHP TJ Shook (4.46 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 12.1 K/9 in 33.1 IP) will attempt to tame a Birmingham team which has won all 4 games in Biloxi this week. Our lineup features(?) 4 players with a sub-.500 OPS.

LHP Aaron Ashby (8.90 ERA, 2.33 WHIP, 10.1 K/9 in 33.1 IP) is due for a good outing, especially at home against a Charlotte which AAA Nashville has defeated 4 times this week. 26-year old LF Isaac Collins has established himself as a reliable AAA hitter (.918 OPS, 28 BB / 33 K ratio in 177 PAs).

Nightmare game for Yujanyer Herrera (9 runs (7 earned) in 3 innings), but the man threw strikes: 40 in 58 pitches. No walks. One HBP. 8 singles. 1 double. Zero triples or homers.

Hopefully he’s able to maintain confidence and come back strong next outing. No shame in what happened today.

Timber Rattlers trail 13-1.

Biloxi faces a 20-year old making his AA debut: Noah Schultz.

Noah’s a 6’9” LHP who was the 26th overall draft pick in 2022, signing for $2.8 million.

This Biloxi team has not been very enjoyable.

You are being very kind in your assessment. This first half is what we would lovingly call a 'Dud'.

They remind me of Joe Ayrault's first half Timber Rattler team last year.

They have been hard to watch. Despite having talent.  Boeve, Wilken, Brown along with EMJ should have more firepower, but it’s been blanks so far except for a few games here and there.  This is a team that feels like a no hitter against or a shutout against every day.  Wes Clarke was the only offensive threat. When hurt and then when promoted he took what semblance of offense with him. Sigh.

Maybe Carolina can get more consistent, but that line up is showing some potential.

Wisconsin scuffling today. And against South Bend in general. Which is odd. Maybe Lara was more of a key cog than his underlying numbers indicated.

I haven’t watched yet. But Ashby had to feel ok with his outing today just based on game numbers, right?

Yorman Galindez strong through four scoreless with 2 H | 2 BB | 6 K on 78 pitches.

See if he gets one more inning with a 4-0 lead and the 8-9-1 hitters due up in the fifth.

And like that - he hangs a breaking ball that was crushed over the LF fence.

Given Ayrault is managing the Shuckers, I have had that thought on numerous occasions. Maybe, oddly, Ayrault is a second half manager? LOL. I need something to hold on to. Anything.

Ashby's outing was not bad. The first 2 innings were clean. Velo up to 94-95. Hit 95 a few times. Scuffled in the third, but not bad. Velo down in the 4th/5th and control eluded him in the 6th. But 5.1 innings and 2 runs allowed, with only 3 BB - each when he just couldnt' find the zone. He as around the zone most of the night.

As far as live - what? Jared Walsh - he of all of 4 homers on the season - with 3 of those HRs the last two nights. I don't know.

Tied 3-3.

Uribe - broken bat  hit, then retires the next couple, then a walk, then gets the last out. Hitting 98-99 consistently. Still 3-3 bottom of 9.

Uribe still struggling to miss bats in AAA. I just don't think this is a guy who should be coming back to the MLB any time soon.

True. They are waiting on his fastball and hitting it - not always well. His slider does not look sharp.

But....

Roller walk off HR baby!! Sounds on a roll!

Carolina leading, but Morris Austin strikes out the first batter. THen struggles, walk, double with an error. Then Sac Fly. 4-3 Mudcats. Hopefully he can escape, and Cats can get a run back. Hopefully

It's just command. 16 swings against him today and only 1 swing and miss. He has just been totally incapable of getting his sinker down this year. When he leaves his sinker up like today and basically every outing this year, it kind of defeats the purpose of a sinker because you're killing the sink. Even with 20 grade command like this he can get by in AAA because guys can't handle his velo. In the MLB he's getting hit around when he locates like this.

Very true on Uribe. Explains why they are hitting it- now AAA hitters fouling it, popping it up, but not swinging and misses.

In Carolina a very dubious strike 3 on Yophery. Then Pratt weak hit to 3B and throw off base. Now the 3 hit Baez is up. Lets get a few runs.

Baez infield hit. 2 on. Let's go.
