Brewers Minor League Link Report (6/14): A Restored Camera Angle Is the Main Reason for Celebration

Sure, outside of the rookie ball youngsters in Maryvale and the Dominican Republic, it was a tough Friday in terms of wins and losses. All four full-season affiliates dropped their contests, with the Sounds and Shuckers getting outscored by a combined 25-3. However, the evening has to be considered a really big win for fans of Brewers prospects, because the Biloxi center field camera view, after a very extended stint, was activated from its own "injured list". Let there be rejoicing, no one more pleased than Voice of the Shuckers Javik Blake, no longer subject to our whining on the topic. Oh, you First World problems.

Garrett Mitchell pulled a line drive single to right for his knock on a 1-for-4 night, fanned swinging leading off the game as the designated hitter.

Tyler Black's hit on his 1-for-4 night was a double, logged as a "sharp fly ball". Gameday getting its thesaurus out.

Joel Kuhnel and Darrell Thompson pitched scoreless ball in garbage time, but even then, combined to allow five baserunners over the final two innings.

The game mercifully lasted only hours, 14 minutes. 

How things change quickly - we tossed around RHP Evan McKendry's name as a possible 40-man add last fall to protect from Rule 5, though that never seemed a true temptation for the Brewers.

Shuckers Fall to Smokies on Shuck Cancer Night - Yerzy smashes second home run of the year, Sparks tallies multi-hit night

A 5-3 score after eight innings, but the final score is what it is.

It's been a full month since RHP Bradley Blalock had a positive start, as his game log shows.

Eric Brown Jr. singled in the first inning, played defense in the 2nd, but did not come out defensively in the 3rd.

Sometimes defensive highlight plays are featured, and you say to yourself, "yeah, that's nice". But these two gems via Carlos D. Rodriguez and newcomer Adam Hall are true standouts.

Sure, Craig Yoho had a strong 8th inning, but as the box and log will show, the 9th inning included three consecutive singles (two of the fly ball variety, plus a line drive that found grass).

Encouraging outing for 2022 5th round RHP Will Rudy. Rudy is a strike-thrower (1.21 WHIP), but some OK peripherals belie the ERA, lowered to 5.83 here. More K's would help.

Five-run second inning was mostly gifted by the baby Rockies, though SS Eduardo Garcia's two-run double was big.

The 2-3-4 hitters were rehabbers, two games into their stints for Garcia and C Brian Navarreto, game #8 for Felix Valerio.

Only 59 pitches in six outstanding innings for RHP Enniel Cortez, emulating Carlos F. Rodriguez as a product of Nicaragua. Good thing for quick work, 105 degrees at gametime. That's the Cortez we followed as he shined in the DSL last season.

Team Dos won despite having one base hit, a Kevin Ereu RBI double in the 5th.

In just his 2nd pro game, Team Dos starting RHP Christopher Peralta, who only turned 17 less than a month ago, Peralta is from the same Dominican town as namesake Freddy (Christopher had a much better night on the mound), four scoreless with only five baserunners allowed. In a video earlier this spring, Freddy had mentioned that his hometown wasn't a prime location for Dominican recruits. I wonder if he knows directly about Christopher.

17-year-old southpaw Enderson Mercado, likewise in only his 2nd pro appearance, followed up nicely to earn the win.

For Team Uno, remarkable infielder Luis Pena (yes, 17 years old), singled twice and stole his 16th base in 16 tries. He's played eight games, OPS at 1.406.
