Starting 17-year old, 6'5" RHP Paul Hoff (born in Buchholz, Germany) has recorded his 2nd straight "take note" outing for DSL Brewers-2, throwing 5 scoreless innings while allowing only 1 single with zero walks and zero HBPs.

The team lead DSL Cubs Blue 2-0 through 6 innings of a 7-inning contest. 3B Roderick Flores has a single, walk, RBI and stolen base thus far, while 2B Kevin Ereu has a single, walk, SB and run scored.

6 K in that 5 IP for Hoff as well. You have to love that type of performance! The no BB is a huge turnaround in his 4th outing and 3rd GS. He now has a positive differential K:BB (13:11).

Overall nice pitching performances for the DSL clubs. And I had to check - we have three DSL games. I couldn't find Hoff's performance at first. Only 4 ER allowed in three games. THe offense a little light compared to the usual, but still hitting: outhitting the opponents 18 hits to 8, and 3 2B and a HR.

But the DSL-2 lose the doubleheader as Quintana strikes out swining, they lose 4-0. Qunitana 0-4 with 3K in the 2nd game. Would love to see him start to hit, but I'll take the season so far for the Pena/Made/Ortuno trio of the DSL-1 club

High-A Wisconsin faces Marlins’ affiliate Beloit this week, with LHP Mark Manfredi (4.04 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 11.2 K/9 in 49 IP) aiming to bounce back tonight from a rough last outing. SS Gregory Barrios has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games.

1B Tyler Black is back atop AAA Nashville’s lineup as they begin the first of 3 games at Cardinals’ affiliate Memphis. RHP Evan McKendry gave up 7 runs in 4.2 innings 5 days ago, so his pitch limit may be a bit limited.

Low-A Carolina’s SS Cooper Pratt brings his 34-game on-base streak (yes, he should be drinking milk in Wisconsin by now) out to face Rangers’ affiliate Down East. 18-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez has averaged 6.1 IP per start over his last 4 outings.

Sunday's Link Report:

DH/1B Jesus Chirinos exited after lining out in the 2nd inning, so we’ll have to monitor his health status.

Via the Postgame Podcast, Kyle Lobner passed along that Chirinos was experiencing mild neck discomfort and his removal was precautionary. Absence from Monday's lineup not a surprise.

18 year old Manuel Rodriguez with another 6 IP quality start for Carolina. Incredible stuff.

For those wondering, that's now five straight starts of 6 IP or more. 18 years old until August 8th. Let that sink in. Dating back to his first start of May (5/7), that's 6-of-9 games started of 6 IP or more. AND, of those three we have a 5 2/3 IP. Just unreal stuff from Manuel.

Wisco pouring it on up 10 to 0 through five.

In addition to the aforementioned Luke Adams bomb Gregory Barrios is 3 for 3, Matthew Wood is 2 for 2 with a walk, Tayden Hall drove in a pair and Eduarqui Fernandez is 2 for 3.

Bullpen game going five hitless scoreless so far with Mark Manfredi (1.2 IP | 3 BB | 2 K), Tyler Wehrle (1.1 IP | 2 K) and Patricio Aquino (2 IP | 1 K) mowing em down.

Carolina falls 3 to 2 bottom of eleven.

Dikember Sanchez followed Manuel Rodriguez with two scoreless frames of 1 H | 1 BB work before Morris Austin finally succumbed to the Manfred Mann after two scoreless of his own including a 10th inning strand job.

Cooper Pratt went 1 for 2 with two pair (walks and stolen bags), while Reece Walling went 2 for 5 with a double and Fillipo Di Turi walked twice.

Biloxi has evened the score at five apiece here in the bottom of six.

A Carlos Rodriguez double and Brock Wilken single got the run across while subsequent singles from Darrien Miller and Ernesto Martinez Jr, have loaded the bases.

And a base knock from Zavier Warren plates two more giving the Shuckers a 7 to 5 lead.

Two on, two out for Lamar Sparks.

Eduardo Garcia walk, wild pitch and a Ramon Rodriguez single netted Wisco their 11th run top of seven.

Aquino went walk, flyout, 4-6-3 double play in the bottom half.

Zavi Warren with the key hit so far here late for the Shuckers. A bases loaded single in the bottom of the sixth with two down plated two runs for a 7-5 Shuckers lead.

Nashville goes off for four runs top of five to take a 6 to 1 lead. Here’s how it went down…

Yonny Hernandez single, Brian Navarreto walk, Patrick Dorrian single, Tyler Black single, and Vinny Capra double.

Meanwhile, McKendry retired the first two batters of the bottom half (1 K) before giving up a single and being relieved by Janson Junk who gets a groundout to end the inning.

Biloxi bullpen has been aces since Sam Carlson came into a two on, one out fourth inning jam with three runs already across and retired both batters to stop the bleeding.

He pitched another scoreless frame after that (1.2 IP | 1 H | 2 K), with Russell Smith (1.0 IP | 1 H | 1 K) and Justin Yeager (2.0 IP | 1 H | 2 K) following suit to leave Biloxi three outs away from the win.
