Maybe someone can ask Craig about all his guys trying to drain Lake Michigan all night. Seems like it would be an astute question.

It's nice to go 1-1 so far in the series playing this poorly, and I'm not even referring to the lack of base hits/runs. We gifted them two runs yesterday. Today, some really odd decisions offensively. I can at least get the poor decision by Chourio--he obviously thought the throw was going to 3rd. What I didn't get was Mitchell, instead of sliding home, apparently decided to slide to a pebble 3 feet to the right of home.

Still, some impressive stones late. I've seen Koenig much better, but I don't know if I've ever seen him show that level of guts. And a 2023-type inning from Peguero.

Murphy didn't come right out & say it, but it sounded to me like Yelich to the IL to make room for Sanchez.

OK, but then you have a whole bunch of guys bunting on their own which means they feel free to do so.

According to postgame, Ortiz was bunting, then when the corners came crashing they wanted him to swing away & he didn't.

The guys who bunt on their own--usually w/no one on--are mostly if not totally people who are capable of doing it, & I have no problem with it. But the situation has to be right. Yelich with the push bunts w/a runner on 3rd are beautiful. A couple of them tonight were called "ill-advised" by Murphy, including Turang bunting on 3-0.

Bullpen taxed is not the day to have Johnny wholestaff. Going to be tough.

I think the lions' share is expected to be Wilson & Junis. I can see a scenario where the BP availability is sufficient but you'd like at least 6 out of those two.

I think we should only be planning on 4 relievers tomorrow. Wilson, Junis, Zastryzny, and Payamps.

Milner threw 32 pitches with 2 up downs on Monday.

Koenig has thrown 54 pitches the last 3 days coming fresh off the IL.

Peguero and Megill would both be throwing 4 times in 5 days.

Hudson’s velo was down 2-5 mph today, so he shouldn’t even be thought as available on a back to back.

All 5 of those guys should probably be unavailable. Wilson 3-4, Junis 2-3, Zastryzny 1+, and Payamps for a save should be the plan. Basically need Wilson and Junis firing on all cylinders. If one of them has an off day it’s going to force us to use pitchers who probably shouldn’t be pitching.

Based on what we've seen this year I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Milner come in to finish an inning or some such. The rest, I agree.

Yeah I think Milner might be a possibility to finish an out or two to get out of an inning, but I think they would probably prefer to avoid him.

I think they can send Peguero down, call up someone, then on Friday they put Yelich on the IL, technically recall Peguero to replace Yelich, and then send down whoever they called up and replace him with Sanchez.

While they can have a max of 13 pitchers, I seem to recall the Brewers doing this once or twice earlier this season - recall a pitcher who otherwise wouldn't have been eligible to be called up to technically replace a hitter going on the IL, and then subsequently recalling a hitter to replace a pitcher being sent down.  So long as they have no more than 13 pitchers at game time I think it's allowed.

Here you go... along with the many replies on how the Cubs got hosed:

I understand win probability and run expectancy as two different stats. And I think Umpire Scorecard is great... no shade.

However, the outcomes of the three listed at bats mean that only the bad strike call to Mitchell impacted the game all that much.

I wish there was a way to blend the run expectancy from the given pitch with the eventual result of the at bat.

I know it's homerism, but the misses that went against the Brewers felt more egregious than UmpScorecard has them.

The percentile ranks for that game are brutal.
