My sincere hope for OF Braylon Payne is we throw him right atop that batting order at lead-off. He has that profile to a 'T'. It is time to remove CF Yophery Rodriguez from the lead-off experience. Not a lead-off hitter. I sincerely have no idea what the Brewers are doing here. Rodriguez is a 2,6,7 kind of guy right now. Way too many strikeouts. Not a base stealer. Let's take that pressure off and let him see the game first.

OF Braylon Payne will indeed make his debut in Zebulon tonight:

I was hoping the name was revealed at the time it was said and this did not disappoint. Awesome hype video

My 'wish' is not granted. DH Braylon Payne will bat fifth protecting SS Daniel Guilarte. CF Yophery Rodriguez in his standard lead-off spot - may he prosper. Baez follows playing 2B and Bitonti returns to the hot corner batting third. RHP Bryan Rivera will take the hill for his fourth start as a Mudcat. The Muddies will look to extend their series lead to 3-0.

The Timber Rattlers will look to bounce back into form after last night's disappointing loss in Extras. RHP Ryan Birchard will look to discover the form that had so many of us here excited when he was drafted just a year ago - he has struggled of late. SS Eduardo Garcia returns to the line-up. 1B Tayden Hall is back at 1B backed up by 3B Jadher Areinamo. CF Luis Lara gets clean-up duties protected by C Matt Wood. DH Ramón Rodríguez stays in the line-up while Jesus Chirinos gets the night off. RF Edquarqui Fernandez is back in RF while Jheremy Vargas spells Hedbert Perez after his disappointing gaffe in the tenth inning. 2B Felix Valerio will look to continue poking clutch bombs. The series is split 1-1.

Which version of the Biloxi Shuckers will show tonight? With RHP K.C. Hunt on the bump, historically this would tell us the offense is preparing for another low-scoring output. Let's hope the tables turn and they reverse course. CF Dylan O'Rae leads off yet again with 2B Ethan Murray batting second. 3B Brock Wilken is just three homers shy of 20 on his season after last night's bomb. 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. will try his bat in clean-up with DH Lamar Sparks protecting him batting 5th. LF Adam Hall and RF Zavier Warren will cover the outfield corners while SS Caleb Martin will give Eric Brown Jr. a much needed rest from the batters box. C Nick Kahle steps back in giving Darrien Miller a night off from catching duties. The Shuckers trail 1-2 in the early going of this series. They continue to hold onto top position in the playoff chase by a very thin thread.

The Sounds will look to keep the playoff train rolling down the tracks as try to jump to a 3-0 series lead over the Gwinnett Stripers. RHP Mitch White will be back on the bump looking to start his September like he finished his August - dominancing. 3B Isaac Collins is back at it in lead-off. SS Vinny Capra will look to keep offering that dynamic one-two punch atop the line-up. LF Tyler Black is back in corner outfield duties for the second consecutive night. DH Wes Clarke will bat clean-up protected by 2B Owen Miller. RF Carlos D. Rodriguez will look to continue getting on base as CF Chris Roller looks to continue swinging a hot power bat. 1B Patrick Dorrian is back in the line-up and C Brian Navarreto is back behind the dish. The Sounds are 3.5 GB the first place Columbus Clippers.

I think it's fair to say this RHP Bryan Rivera outing did not go as planned early. 3.0 IP, 7 H, 3 BB, 2 K, 3 ER (4 R), 1 WP. 66 pitches. 41 strikes.

Mitch White at 97-98 mph in the 1st? If he turns into a productive MLB starter, I would love a story on that progression.

Still holding velo through the 3rd inning. He's definitely looking like a guy I hope the Brewers can keep around next season.

It looks like Payne is taking some really close pitches for balls--the Gameday locations don't appear to be correct on those pitches. So far good plate discipline.

Did anyone else notice the Mudcats gave Payne #9? That has been Adamczewski's number since his call-up. You'd think with a guy just being placed on the 7-Day IL they would have found another number? Seems a bit strange. I mean there's nothing to read into it. But, I noticed it earlier and had a kind of "Well, huh." reaction.

Kind of a slap attempt at a high fastball for Payne in his 3rd PA--easy grounder to 2nd, but a bobble by the 2nd baseman. Payne looked safe at 1st but was called out.

Mis can’t find the zone tonight

That was brutal. That was extremely wild Misiorowski. Not an outing he can afford if he wants to get called up to the MLB

RHP K.C. Hunt was clearly not as sharp as he's been BUT here's your run totals during his innings by the Shuckers offense in his 5 GS:

Game 1: 0

Game 2: 0

Game 3: 2

Game 4: 3

Game 5: 2

The first four games were all losses. What will the Shuckers manage tonight?

The only pitcher to throw a scoreless frame in the Mudcats 12 to 6 loss was third baseman Miguel Briceno, who worked around a walk and strikeout to earn the zero while also registering his first ever strikeout from the mound in 7.1 career innings. Also went 3 for 4 at the plate with a stolen bag, not too shabby.

Not much fun in the TRats box as they trail 5 to 1 top seven with their lone tally coming on Jadher Areinamo's 10th home run of the season.
