Considering the total circumstances, including the remaining schedule and the Brewers current offensive struggles, a 6-11 (now 5-11) finish is not that far fetched.

The Brewers next 10 games are against two teams with potent offenses that are still playing to cement their playoff positions. If the hitting doesn't pick up it isn't hard to see the Brewers going 3-7 in those games. But, it's also possible that that could be good enough to clinch the division. If the Brewers do clinch the division during the upcoming homestand, who knows what their strategy and motivation would be the final week.

Just look at what the Brewers did in 2021. With 18 games remaining they had a record of 89-55 and had a 14 game lead in the division. They went 6-12 the rest of the way, and lost 5 of 6 after clinching the division title.

Look it's not impossible as anything can happen over that small of a sample but it's pretty far fetched considering they haven't had a stretch that poor all season. Even the White Sox are projected by Fangraphs to finish better than that. It's pretty much dooming just to doom, and ignoring the fact that the Brewers are a good team with a potent offense in their own right (even if they've been slumping a bit lately).

What happened in 2021 is irrelevant to this team. That team also didn't have a bye to play for.

I don’t see it as “dooming”because the scenario includes clinching the division title with at least a week to play.

And winning 90 games is not exactly a significant goal in and of itself.

I am not ignoring the Brewers offense. They haven’t been remotely as potent as the DBacks for several months. You seem to be ignoring that my comment included a reference to the offense not picking up.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Again, even if they were to clinch the division with more than a week to spare, they'd still likely be mathematically alive for the playoff bye during that last week, so the incentive to win will be there.

5-11 is a stretch that is not really supported by anything this team has done this year. As potent as the DBacks offense is and hot as they are, their pitching is significantly worse than the Brewers and the Brewers have been one of the hottest teams in the 2nd half themselves.

When we dream up scenarios about bad things occurring that aren't particularly likely and play up our opponents at every opportunity while dismissing our own strengths, I think it's fair to call it "dooming".

If I look at rolling 16-game averages, i don't see a single stretch in the year where the Brewers were worse than 7-9. Their best was 12-4.
