So who is lying. Murphy saying Devin was only available for 1-2 outs or Devin saying he would have gotten the 9th if the Brewers got a lead in the top half?

Could it have been depending who was coming up? I really think Murphy liked the 2/3 due up in the 10th were LHH and Koenig threw the ball well in the 9th

Why wouldn't Williams be available tomorrow?

He warmed up multiple times today. If you use him tomorrow it'd be the equivalent of him throwing 5 times in 7 days which is why the whole "he's available but only for an out" crap was utter nonsense. Especially moreso when Devin claims he was going to get the 9th inning if the Brewers got the lead in the 9th.

He did, he mentioned it afterward.

Lost in all this...........how does everyone feel about the idea to go with 6 starters, at least this time through? There are innings limits I'm sure, but it isn't like the starters constantly go deep into games. It basically makes you keep juggling eight men in the pen. Not the SAME eight, but still would've been nice to have another multi-inning arm available today.

Duly noted, but I think he'll be available tomorrow.

Would just be another old man gaffe by Murphy. We know what Peguero offers to this team and that is absolutely nothing.

Maybe Arnold pulls the trigger anyways or they call up Yoho who is equally deserving.

Yoho pitching now so it won't be him. That leaves the only fresh pitchers on the 40 man as Tyler Jay and Peguero if Payamps has to hit the IL, We all know who Murphy wants it to be

Using #PatMurphyLogic he probably will be available because #PatMurphyLogic is rarely logical

The Brewers have won 86 games and 3rd best team in the league. Gtfo with that

Nah Pat Murphy has shown to be an extremely questionable in game manager with his inconsistent bullpen logic and his fascination with bunting. The Brewers have won 86 games because the roster is good

Did anyone ask him if he knew Devin William's position with the team?

He is The Closer.

I recall a game recently where Murphy asked this question indirectly.  When Murphy didn’t pull him, the board had a meltdown.  See St Louis

Pat has a lot of fans on this board, but people are going to complain about a badly managed game.

If people here had their way, three games into the season the only available relievers would be Payamps, Mitchell and Hoskins.

I think Murphy is getting a little too much blame for this loss. The bullpen guys he used should have been able to win this; they didn't. Yet I realize the Dbacks can easily score multiple runs in an inning.

Yes, I would've liked to see Devin pitch the 10th. If he had taken the loss, what else could you say except "It just wasn't meant to be."

Being a manager is more than just your in game manager decisions

I agree. I can think Murphy is a good overall manager and deserving of manager of the year while simultaneously being a poor in game manager which is exactly what I think and what my #PatMurphyLogic dig was about. His in game managing.

Edit: In game managing mostly doesn't make a big difference during the regular season. There are 162 games so the good/bad decisions even out, but in the playoffs these poor managing decisions could absolutely be the difference between a win and a loss which is scary with Murphy's bunt fascination.

Nope.  Point being that there is ALWAYS complaining about Murphy.  Like somebody said, we can do that here.

Others can get on here and say… relax

No it was. A bad take because you don’t understand context.    Where a guy is dead on his feet and everybody saw it

in no way was that situation the same as other Williams appearances.

People are always complaining about everything.

Managers make decisions that sometimes work out and sometimes don't. That's baseball. But not bringing in a closer who is warmed up and ready to go? I heard his reasons from the postgame interview. They are unusual, to be generous.
