If Detroit signs Alex Bregman to play 3B, they could become a trade partner with Milwaukee.

Are any of these young players worth trading for? Matt Vierling, Zach McKinstry, Andy Ibáñez, & Jace Jung

They may also be open to moving 1B Spencer Torkelson who doesn’t have a position (unless he becomes their DH).  Colt Keith is moving to 1B to make room for Gleyber Torres at 2B.

Torkelson doesn't really have much value and the Brewers could easily get him as he has been absolutely horrendous offensively for the Tigers.  I doubt the Brewers would want Torkelson as he just K's way too much and he is very poor defensively at 1B.  Torkelson is like a slightly better version of Bauers.

If the Tigers sign Bregman it would take a lot to get Jung and the others seem to be more like bench players.  I am not sure there is a fit here between the Brewers and Tigers.  Maybe in the rotation to replace Cobb with Peralta or something but I think the Brewers would need to get another piece back besides Jung in a Peralta trade.

I can almost guarantee that Tork will not be cheap. If he struggles again this year, maybe next year.  Guy was decent in 2023 with 31 home runs.

Check his stats no one is giving up a lot for him.  He has been one of the worst 1B in MLB offensively.

They will not trade a guy they selected #1 in 2020 for cheap who hit 31 home runs on 2023. Like I said if he has another down season, maybe

Vierling has really been an outfielder but wouldnt be the worst add at 3B. Jace Jung would be nice if not to expensive. Does Colt Keith play 1B since they signed Gleybar and Tork mostly DH.

Carlos Rodriguez and Sal Frelick for Matt Vierling?

* The Jungle Cars get a CF and a pitcher with some promise.

* The trade opens up at bats for Black.

* The black hole at 3B is filled.

Chourio LF

Perkins CF

Yelich DH

Contreras C

Vierling 3B

Mitchell RF

Hoskins 1B

Ortiz SS

Turang 2B

According to the MLB.com article I read, Colt Keith will move to 1B

Vierling seems to check a number of boxes  reasonably well.

I dunno, Vierling seems like a guy that is just kind of ok at everything.

His +3.0 BsR comes in 103rd of 330 players with at least 1,000 PAs since 2021 and that is probably his most standout ranking.

His career wRC+ is 100 on the nose. Steamer projects a 103 next year, ZiPS says 101.

In 2,450 outfield innings he has -1 DRS | +1 FRV, in 639 innings at 3B it's -4 DRS | 0 FRV.

He walks (88 BB%+), strikes out (93 K%+) and hits for power (87 ISO+) at below average rates so his offense is pretty driven by hitting singles (106 AVG+) the other way (119 OPPO+).

Thanks. I’m not suggesting he’s in the league of Bregman, Bohm or Suarez, but these characteristics seemed reasonable to me:

- 16 HR in 518 ABs
- Average EV of 89.4
- Overall arm of 85.0 (Savant)
- Right-handed hitter
- xwOBA of .313
- 41 BB / 121 K

I feel like Sal for Vierling is an overpay, Vierling only has 91 games at 3rd base and overall is below average defensively (close to average last year in 50 games). He isn't a great athlete (decent) and has a 3/1 k to bb, the only thing he has is a bit more power but it's not like he is going to be a middle of the order bat. I know Vierling was worth 3 WAR but I just don't like the fit. On top of that he is a good defense OF and the Tigers probably will have an everyday OF spot for him in the OF.

I would say Sal and CarRod for Jace Jung would be more appealing and likely if they sign Bregman. Even then I know they are pretty happy with Vierling, Greene, Meadows in the OF with Kerry Capenter as a 4th when not DHing. My guess is that the Tigers would want more pitching than bats if they get Bregman.

I agree.  I believe a trade with the Tigers starts and ends with Peralta.  Their biggest weakness would be at starting pitching.  Peralta would easily slot in as the #2 or #3 pitcher in the Tigers rotation.  I am just not sure the Tigers have the prospects the Brewers would want beyond Jung.  Maybe something like Jung, Melton and another piece but I think that leaves you short of Peralta's value.  If the Tigers get Bregman I would definitely dangle Peralta and try to get Jung from the Tigers somehow.  An INF of Turang, Ortiz and Jung would be rather amazing.
