Seriously?  A 55 yard FG in the cold weather is no gimmie.  They wanted to think about whether to go for it on 4th down or go for the FG.

You’re completely kidding, right? I can’t believe someone is going to defend that atrocity.

It’s called proactive thinking, the best NFL coaches know before that 3rd down play even happens what their max range is that they’re willing to try based on the conditions and direction. They aren’t staring at their special teams coach like a deer in the headlights trying to figure it out on the fly.

You don’t get to “think about it”. That decision needs to be known before the snap. Unless you want to give them enough time to drive back down the field and win it, which is exactly what they did.

And even if they wanted to “think about it”, they still could have run more time off the clock before going for it on 4th. All they needed to do was get another 10-15 yards and they’re well in comfortable range.

50 seconds is a lifetime of seconds on the clock in the NFL to come back when all you need is 3.

Even Matt admitted he screwed the pooch.

Silver lining, it didn't effect our seeding, we started the game playing like it mattered, but not after halftime, and the bears have to have dropped a few spots in draft position with that win.

We are a fingertip away from being 0-6 against our division. Let that sink in.

And a weekend away from finishing this season 0-3.

Some NFL head coaches have an assistant with no other purpose than to help manage clock decisions.

I don’t know if it’s because of pride or what that he doesn’t have one, but he needs one. He’s hurt the team on numerous occasions with poor clock management.

And it’s not a good look at all that MLF and Bisaccia weren’t on the same page on how close they needed to get to try McManus.

Came in at 9th and I believe the Saints have a tie breaker over the Bears so they stayed at 9th.  If they would have lost then they would have had the 8th pick.  So didn't drop at all.

Despite Love and Jacobs not playing the whole game, it's still disappointing to lose to the Bears. At least it wasn't the type of game where the Bears winning would have eliminated the Packers from the playoffs.

Did Love and Jacobs sit out the entire second half?

Per ESPN, Bears currently select 10th in 2025 draft.

You are the head coach of a professional football team. You needed 2 points with one minute left in the game to win. The opposing team had 1 timeout.

How were you not on the same page with your special teams coach regarding the range of your kicker? How had you not discussed that with him prior to 4th down?

“That can’t happen”

but it did, Matt, it did.

Seems low.

Wow. I expect heavy money on Philly to push that to at least 5 by kickoff.

The number of “that can’t happen” we’ve heard from MLF this season is nauseating.

What can’t happen is repeatedly having to sheepishly explain that something that did happen during a game can’t happen.

Do better at in-game communication and instinctive decision making so you don’t have to keep returning to the podium with that statement.

MLF has said numerous times that he makes decisions with “his gut”. Maybe try, I don’t know, trying to think ahead a little bit during the game instead?

He definitely hit the over on the "That's on me" quotes.

I'm starting to think that maybe he's hit his ceiling as a head coach. Above average but not someone that will take you to the top.

Assuming the Packers lose next week where will they end up in the draft?

It depends on who else loses next week as well. Anywhere from 19-24. Probably closer to 24. Not that it matters much anyway considering out first round draft pick history.

He’s the perfect OC. He’s a very smart X’s and O’s guy that knows offensive football, and is creative, although sometimes too cute.

But HC is different, and when you ask him to make a decision in the next 5 seconds, he freezes up. It’s just not his strong point. Unfortunately, it’s a really bad trait for your HC to have in huge games.

In games, he’s playing checkers too often and not thinking ahead. The last drive was a textbook example of that. A coach who makes good in game decisions already knew exactly what his next move would be based on the down and distance of the 4th down. Again, he wasn’t thinking ahead. They got stuffed for a 2 yard loss and he was standing there with a “Oh crap, now what?” look on his face.

Looks like they came in at 9th, the win drops then to 10th since saints have a lower strength of schedule.  However with a loss they would have climbed over Carolina after their win, and if the jets hang on they could have climbed to 7.  So at least 2 and possibly 3 which is a couple.

Nagler stated that he should've called a time out on third down and call a play that would ice the game away. I'm not sure I would agree with that since there are no guarantees but it's certainly not as egregious as what he ended up doing. Then again, calling a vanilla run up the gut and take a two yard loss wasn't exactly genius either.

I agree,I have a problem with the 3rd down call of the packers running it right into the line.Other then that,MLF made the right call, Fg was good, we took the lead with 54sec, and bears only had 1 timeout. kickoff places them inside there own 20,then, a fluke horse collar, next play is a perfectly placed pass to Odunze for roughly 15 with him toe tapping, and then we miss about 3sacks on  Williams if u include the horse collar play, and the oh so close grounding penalty, or should have been a sack. Then a bad timeout to set up there final play b4 kick imo, Brars have choked all year in high pressure situations,  don't let them set up a play, and give them a breather imo,oh well! IM a die hard packers fan, but this team doesn't have that bond, and togetherness a team needs. Seems like a split locker room possibly,  no leader

Side note of respect to whichever Bears player it was that was immediately motioning for trainers when Watson went down, I don’t even know if the play was over yet.

I thought for sure they'd get a touchdown.

Going to be a major arbitrage opportunity for the gamblers out there who are going to go heavy on Philly early and go back to Green Bay when the line goes to 5-6 by kickoff.
