25-year old RHP Deivi Garcia gets his first start (2nd appearance) at AAA Nashville, as they strive to even their series at Gwinnett 1-1.

How long will the Wes Clarke 50% K rate last? My goodness. As I have opined on more than one occasion, it's the type of strike outs that are concerning: he continues to swing and miss at way too many pitches in the strike zone.

Nashville might just be really bad this year. A lot of these hitters look like they don't belong in AAA.

It's very early but it's not all that easy to disagree with you.😅

I've been reminding myself I was fairly unimpressed with the Sounds offense early last season as well and then they surprised later in the season. But, yeah, this line-up as it is currently constructed (and certainly as it is currently performing) is pretty underwhelming. I've liked what I've seen from Delgado in small samples. I know EMJ is going to give us effort and output. But, boy, after that every AB feels like a tricky proposition. The infield battery of Seigler, Zamora;, and Monasterio to 'compliment' Durbin is really iffy. This is why i've been stating since last summer: Cooper Pratt has a clear path to an MLB opportunity. Today. This was before the impressions he forged in ST.

And, all this being said, the Sounds as a whole could really just benefit from some more opportunistic hitting with RISP. They had opportunity late last night with the bases juiced. They just had two men aboard to start the 7th frame and immediately hit into a rally killing DP before EMJ grounded out. So, not only are they hitting ineptly as a whole but when they muster those rare opportunities they just aren't capitalizing in any way in the very early part of the season. The problem here is: these opportunities are too rare at the moment. At some point in time, the baseball odds would tell us that is going to shift in some capacity.

Sounds have crafted another RISP oppo here in the 9th. Seigler and EMJ have walked. 0-for-3 (3 more K) Wes Clarke with a massive opportunity. Sounds trail 4-1. Two down. Men on 1st and 2nd.

Clarke has now begun his 2025 campaign taking things up a notch in the swing and miss department: 16 AB. 10 K.

Yikes! Just yikes.🫠

Through 5 games, Nashville as a team has struck out 54 times in 161 PA for a 33.5% K-rate...not good!

Yeah, it has been brutal. No way of getting around it.

I guess on the plus side you have to figure that a version of EMJ who walks more than he strikes out will be good eventually.

Realistically, they should get better. They have enough guys who have hit before in AAA, but the lineup did look better on paper when we thought it would include Quero, Black and Collins.
