Is it silly to think if Misiorowski has another good start, he could be a candidate to take a turn or two in Milwaukee in April or May?

I hope he doesn't but that is for good reasons, and hear me out.

First off - he hasn't had much consistency or pitched deep into games, Out of 44 career starts I counted about 10 total where he went 5 IP or more. Several were of the back to back variety with multiple inconsistent or shorter starts in-between. So that should be his primary focus if he were to be a MLB starter. A call up in the next few weeks would likely be for bullpen role.

But the bigger reason I hope note is since he is not on the 40-man right now, then the main reason we would bring him up so soon in the season would be for multiple injuries, so I hope that does not happen. I would rather the Milwaukee pitching staff get some health back (Mears, Quintana could hopefully return in the next couple of weeks for example, with Woodruff, Ashby, Civale all on the 15-day IL as opposed to Hall).

If he can take a step forward in the next several starts, and maintain it, I would absolutely love for Miz to force his way for a call-up, but right now an April/May call up would seem like it would occur out of need and I hope the big league club doesn't create more holes/needs and gets guys back healthy.

20-year old RHP Bishop Letson, 21-yeah old 2B Daniel Guilarte and 23-year old LF Yhoswar Garcia make their High-A debuts for Wisconsin, who need a home victory to even their series 1-1 with Cedar Rapids. C David Garcia also gets his first 2025 action:

Letson was solid through 3 IP. 4 K, 1 H. 43 pitches.

And it is "Garcia Day" for the T-Rats as Eduardo, David and Yhoswar all in the line up.

But nothing going for the TRats offense still. Really nothing since 1st inning last night. Let's get some hits and base runners please?

Posted

HBP, bloop single by Yophery, walk by Areinamo, and then another HBP to Burke and it's 1-0, but Baez grounds out to pitcher. On to the 4th.

Posted

Oof. Given a lead, Letson is losing his command in the 4th. Sruggling. Now at 60 pitches with back to back walks and a few pitches missed badly.

EDIT: and after the second walk, he is out, with 1 out and 2 runners (both via walks) on base, and Root is in.

Posted

Welp. Root gets 2 strikes quickly, but then a couple of pitches later and Doncon just crushed it. A no doubt HR to left center. 3-1 for Cedar Rapids.  Letson with 2 ER, after cruising through the first 3 innings. Need to limit the damage here. One more out on a grounder to Baez. Need to get another out here.

..... And then offense needs to get going.

Posted

OK, after a couple of hits allowed, Root finally gets the ground out for a force to end the inning. Disappointing half inning there as Letson just lost command, and Root gave up some hard contact (and soft contact too).

Needs to offense to work through the April Wisconsin cold here, and get something going.

A Garcia rally - Eduardo with a double (first XBH for the TRats this season), then after Castillo grounds out, Yhoswar with a single up the middle for an RBI. Then Yhoswar steals 2nd and 3rd. But Guilarte strikes  out. And David (the 3rd Garcia up this inning) is up and then .... strikes out.  OK well, They got a run back, TRats down 3-2 still.

Flores in, and after a 9 pitch battle with the #9 hitter, he gets him out. Then two quick outs (one was a well hit ball that Yhoswar makes a nice run to get at the warning track). So on to bottom of 5, and a new pitcher for Cedar Rapids. First pitch Yophery grounds out.

Let's go T-Rats

Areinamo with a double. The a 10 pitch at bat by Burke, and a WP gets Areinamo to 3rd, Burke draws a walk. Now it is up to Baez to see if we can get a tying run across. C'mon boys

Grounder to 1st by Baez, and Areinamo scores, and Burke to 2nd. Tie game. Yes..

And Garcia time - with Eduardo up and he hits a double that just misses a homer by a few feet (wind blowing in). Either way, the lead is here, now 4-3. Yes. Luis Castillo is now up and he has not looked great today, so let's see if he can change that.

Of note the 3XBH by repeat T-Rats (E. Garcia x2, Areinamo).

Flores in for another inning. A quick out - nice play by Baez whose D at 3rd has been good.

Then a long at bat and a walk. A 3 pitch K. Then a dribbler up the 3rd base line that never curved foul, so an infield hit, but the next batter hits is deep and Y. Garcia with a good read and it there in plenty of time. On to bottom of 6, still up 4-3.

Flores has done his job, now the BP needs to find 9 more outs, and the offense could make their life easier with another rally or two please?

Posted

Not a lot in the bottom of 6 - Yophery did leg out an infield "hit" - not sure if he would have beaten it out, but the 1B did not field the throw cleanly, so error vs hit? Generously called a hit, but good for Yophery to leg it out and make it close.

FLores back out for his 3rd inning of work, and gives up a single. Need to keep them off the score board. Will probably see more bullpen arms soon. Flores gets the next out with a 7 pitch K. His pitch count is now 39, gotta figure his last batter or two - with the top of the line up now back up again.

Gives up a single, and a mound visit and Flores given the chance to get out of the inning with Dikember Sanchez ready. WP and runners on 2nd and 3rd. Let's get this out .... which we did but it went to the second baseman a runner scores. But 2 outs, so a chance to keep it tied at least.

Man that wild pitch cost a run otherwise that would be a DP. And then a wild play - a snap throw by the catcher to third, and gets away, runner would have score except it was called batter interference on the throw, so the runner is back to 3rd base.

Flores completed the inning with a K. Phew. Unfortunately it is tied, but at least they did not give up the lead. So the hitters need to get their bats going here. C'mon TRats.

Offense goes quietly again.  This is a theme.

Sanchez up and starts out promising getting to a 1-2 count. Then 7 straight balls and two walks. Ooof. Gotta get dialed back in Dikember. We need out, no more runs please. And a mound visit (no surprise) to get Sanchez back on track I hope.

But nope 3 straight balls and a gimme strike then a HBP, and bases loaded. 16 pitches and only 4 strikes. Bases juiced no outs. Oh boy

EDIT: another wild at bat. Wild pitch and a walk. Another run in. 21 pitches and only 5 strikes. And a ball to the next batter on the first pitch. Dikember has absolutely no command today. This could get ugly very quickly. They need to get an out and maybe get another reliever in soon to keep this respectable.

Posted

Sanchez's day is over. He got an out on a grounder to Burke (nice play by him) which scores a run. But the next batter walks the bases loaded again. Down 6-4, and Dikember had 30 pitches with only 8 strikes :classic_sad:

Peek is in making his organization debut. Let's see what he can do being put in a tough spot, bases juiced and only 1 our and the top of the order.

Nice to see 20-year old LHP Anthony Flores unfazed by the rapid promotion to High-A (he was still in the ACL at late as July 28 last year, only facing 106 batters at Low-A Carolina).

Posted

And Peek gets a grounder - force out at home, and then a long at bat getting the K looking. Peek did a good job to keep it close. Nice debut by him. Now the O has to get going. I am hopping off and will catch the box score later. Nice start by Letson and some key hits by the O, but so far not enough, but got a couple more opportunities to get the lead back.  CHeers

After hanging out with the Brewers for a few days as emergency pitching depth, RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez (5 IP, 0 ER, 7 Ks in AAA last week) is back in Gwinnett to start for Nashville, who trail 3 games to 1 in this week’s series.

25-year old LHP Nate Peterson (4.08 ERA in 92.2 IP in 2024) gets the start in Pensacola and 21-year old OF/INF Jheremy Vargas makes his AA debut, as Biloxi looks for its first run(s) and victory after being shut out in yesterday’s season opener.

Payne back in the Mudcats lineup after exiting last night’s game early. However, no Made tonight.

What do we make of no Made tonight? Feels odd he would be getting a night off this early.

He had a video on his instagram story today that looked like he was back in the DR. Don't know what that would be about though.
