When you roster guys like Vinny Capra and send them up to the plate in big situations in the 9th inning, you reap what you sow.

I’ve always wondered … does that make losing easier?

I think some people trash their own teams because they aren't as disappointed when they lose. Kind of a self-protection situation.

Wow. Capra in the 9th? Jesus. Might as well sent up a pitcher to hit

This is what happens when Murphy “plays a hunch” earlier in the game & removes Ortiz for Bauers to ground out

I mean Capra has a sub .300 OPS! They have to DFA him, and if their organization doesn’t  have a corner infielder who can put up better than a .300 OPS in the majors, then that’s on Matt Arnold and Co.

Pinch hit Haase nd then if it is tied you lose the DH whatever. Come on

Who would play SS? If Turang … do you move Durbin to 2nd & Collins to 3rd?

I quite sure Capra would pass through waivers if DFA’d & could then go to Nashville for the ultimate “break glass in place of emergency” later this season

Collins has a bunch of experience at 2nd (1500 minor league innings). Im sure Turang can handle SS for an inning or 2

I guess it’s just me pushing the panic button, but I kind of thought we HAD to bat Haase for Capra there.

Of course it’d force Durbin, Collins or Turang to play short to protect the 4-3 lead after Haase’s 2-run blast and leave us with no remaining bench position players…not desperate enough yet I guess.

This would almost be comical if it wasn't so pathetic. Two consecutive innings they couldn't get a ball out of the infield with RISP, then Hoskins whiffs on a ball a foot outside to end the inning. Capra hitting about .050 has to bat in the 9th because they have nobody else. You can't blame Murphy too much because this is what Arnold gave him to manage.

I know Capra is the easy one to bag on here but there were other chances during the game. Also, it was stupid to remove Patrick when he was removed. It felt like Murph was making a move to make a move. And didn't Alexander pitch yesterday and also gave up runs? Maybe just trust your starter at that point.

I agree he's a major liability right now. He has no options left. We need a utility infielder. Who should play instead?
