High-A Wisconsin has won 2 straight and has solid 23-year old RHP Tyson Hardin (0.00 ERA, 16 Ks in 14.2 IP) starting at Cedar Rapids this afternoon. It looks like young C Eric Martinez might be the only available bench bat, so let’s stay healthy! And also win:

1 - Guilarte - 2B
2 - Areinamo - SS
3 - Burke - 1B
4 - Wood - C
5 - Baez - 3B
6 - Perez - RF
7 - Hall - DH
8 - Vargas - LF
9 - Y. Garcia - CF
X - Hardin - P

TRats tied late. Hardin had a decent line, not his most efficient best: 4 IP, 80 pitches, 5K, but 6 H and 2 BB.

And Perez homers as I just turn in. No doubter to right.

So now TRats 3-2 lead.

Hardin had 8 H allowed and 2BB against all season coming into the game, and allowed almost the same amount in just 4 innings. Perez and Burke most of the offense. With Guilarte and Hal each with a double.

Aquino in the 8th.  Has the batter off balance, and a soft grounder into no man’s land between pitcher and 1st, and play made but no chance to get the runner/batter.

Hopefully he can keep the lead intact.

Aquino induced a grounder to SS and nice play Areinamo and it’s a double play, then a deep fly ball to deep left but just under it enough and it’s the 3rd out. tRats still up 3-2 heading to 9. Aquino efficiently thru 2 IP with 27 pitches. Was hitting 92. Let’s see if they can get an insurance run …. Or 2.

Ok. Infield grounder and an error and Garcia is on. Then he’s caught in a run down with a pickoff attempt, and outs thrown into the outfield, he gets the 3rd, and a WP and that’s an insurance run.

Yerlin in for the 9th. Fingers crossed.

Good Yerlin.  Strikes out the first two - hitting 96 mph with ease. And then a grounder to SS. TRats win 4-2. Nice come from behind win.  Let’s hope the other affiliates can work some magic. Big league club is in a big big funk.  Need good vibes from the minors to get me through this.

AA Biloxi seeks its 4th consecutive victory at home against Montgomery, with talented RHP Alexander Cornielle making his 4th start (0.71 ERA, 18 Ks in 12.2 IP). With a thin bench (just Ramon Rodriguez and young Victor Torres available), Zavier Warren makes his 4th-ever start at second base (in his 433rd career MILB start).

RHP Logan Henderson (last pitched with Brewers on Sunday: 6 IP, 1 R, 9 Ks) is back with AAA Nashville, ready to lead them to a 3-2 home series lead over Durham. C Jorge Alfaro has 5 homers in his last 6 games.

The Low-A Mudcats turn to 19-year old RHP Bryan Rivera (1.08 ERA, 9 Ks in 8.1 IP) to help break a 4-game skid at Columbia (including 3 one-run losses). DH/C Marco Dinges has 8 RBIs over his last 5 games.

Carolina is just a monster.

Yeah, Made with a grand slam.  Just when you think they are starting to struggle offensively, they put up an 8-spot in one inning.

Great point, Preister's last 2 outings have been iffy. I will throw in Patrick as a possible replacement place for Henderson. It doesn't seem like Murph has a ton of trust in in Patrick.

Wind blowing out today?

A-ball pitching and defense. Walks, botched easy plays. Looked like a HS game out there.

Maybe we can swap Priester for a high A toolsy outfielder and a draft pick……

But what a night for offense mostly. And some really nice pitching - Mr. Cornielle with a nice outing; Henderson as well, and M. Hernandez in relief in Columbia.

That Mudcat offense - Bitonti is in a bit of the struggle right now while most of the rest of the lineup is clicking.

Oh boy Pratt had a HBP and was pinch hit for his next at bat. Now he did stay in after the HBP, stole a base, and then scored and played an inning or two in the field before being pinch hit for.

i may try to watch Sunday when I am home.

Actually Pratt was getting a partial rest day today as the designated hitter, so no appearance in the field.

The HBP was in the 3rd inning and was on a 94 MPH heater that got him on his hands. The camera work live and on replay were both outstanding, as was Voice of the Shuckers Javik Blake’s game call.

The pitch seemed to get both of Pratt’s hands though his right hand took the brunt of things. Pratt, a RH-hitter, was checked by the training staff and took first base but was shaking his right hand throughout.

With Brock Wilken up next, Pratt (wearing the standard baserunning oven mitt on his left hand), would steal second base a few pitches into Wilken’s at-bat. Interestingly Pratt stole with a feet-first slide. Pratt was very clearly still shaking his right hand after getting back to his feet.

Wilken lined a double to left on a 3-2 pitch, scoring Pratt easily. There was no shot of Pratt going into the dugout.

When catcher Ramon Rodriguez pinch-hit for Pratt in the 5th, Javik Blake noted that Pratt was not up on the dugout railing or visible.

It is quite possible that Pratt later emerged from the clubhouse, but I have only watched the sequence described above from the game’s MILB.TV archive - a 6-1 Biloxi victory.

It is also possible Javik may have been provided an in-game update and commented, however that is very rare on the minor league front. Sophia Minnaert can’t be everywhere!

Pratt’s HBP AB took place at the 01:54:00 hour/minute mark of the archive available for subscribers on the MiLB.com app.

Worth noting is that the Biloxi roster is so extremely thin at this time that the only remaining position player on the bench is catcher Victor Torres, who has yet to make as much as a single appearance in a game this season, effectively serving as the bullpen catcher while maintaining an active roster spot.

So we’ve got the Brewers struggling, a new injury concern (Pratt HBP on hands, though he did steal a base and score before exiting) and a 4-Win Saturday affiliate sweep.

Biloxi has roared back to a .500 record with a second straight series win. Made hit the grand slam for Carolina, while Hedbert Perez, Zavier Warren, Luke Adams, Wes Clarke and Anthony Seigler homered elsewhere.

Alexander Cornielle and Melvin Hernandez each tossed 5 scoreless innings of 3-hit ball. Logan Henderson only allowed 1 hit (a homer) over 6 innings of impeccable work. And Tyson Hardin finally conceded some runs (just 2).

I’d imagine a Brewers’ staffer spent part of last night trying to convince the brass to book Jadher Areinamo on an early morning flight from Cedar Rapids to points south (e.g. 5:30am Atlanta->Biloxi) and Josh Adamczewski to points north (7:29am Columbia->DC->Cedar Rapids). Or maybe Dylan O’Rae will magically re-appear in Biloxi.

I was wondering if I was the only one.  I watched all the starts of Patrick and Priester, and while they were decent, the most impressive start by these young starters was Henderson's and it wasn't close.  Sure enough, the day after Henderson handcuffed a good offense, Priester was very shaky against a Giant team whose offense is mediocre at best.  That game started this team on a slide where they've lost considerable ground in the division.  It only made matters worse when Patrick, who has been the clear number 2 of that group, gets pulled so early despite allowing just one run.
