Eric Hasse long ball, to bad the bases were empty.

Having Capra bat before you pretty much ensures coming up with the bases empty.

Do any of the towns where you guys live have the “Fun, Fair, & Positive” sports leagues for little kids - where everyone gets a trophy & winning / losing is not emphasized?

Are you a hack comic from the late 1990s?

Murph didn’t give a damn about this game. Shame with an off day tomorrow too. I just don’t see this team as currently constructed being anywhere near good enough. What a waste of a year.

It’s really weird to put out a Sunday lineup before a day off.

Pretty much every sport has evolved in the name of player safety over the last 25-30 years.

Wasn’t that many years ago when you’d watch an NFL game and hear the phrase, “Oh, he just got his bell rung, he’ll be back out there.”

Sir, he literally sustained a brain injury.

The difference being in baseball neither 2nd base plays nor home plate plays were truly safety issues in MLB. In the last 120+ years there have been hundreds, if not, thousands of catchers and a fraction of one percent have been seriously injured in a home plate collision. When it happened in ‘11 to one of the big name stars in the game, MLB faced criticism and changed the rule.

Same thing with Tejada and Utley. Big post season stage and Utley plays dirty injuring a player and they decide to change the rules instead of acknowledging the intentional play and punishing the offending player/team.

I get Elvin can provide more length than some of the other options in AAA but at what point do you just admit he isn't an MLB capable pitcher? They really need the starters all healthy just to push a couple to the bullpen for situations like this.

The bottom 6-7 players on our current roster are not true major league quality players ... some will be DFA'd or sent to the minors when injured players return after rehab. Others may stick around & drive me batty all year.

It is truly painful to me how many non big leaguers are on this team. It is so disrespectful to paying fans to put a guy like Elvin Rodriguez out there in a 2 run game.

Also, Rodriguez is another example of Arnold getting too confident in his team’s ability to “work their magic” with pitchers.

I mentioned earlier - apparently, Murph was "happy with a series win"

I don't understand how Elvin got the call over Peguero/Hudson

I agree that Peguero deserves another opportunity

Hudson hasn't performed very well in AAA after his recent demotion

We don’t have a lot of bad pitchers on this team, but the ones that are bad are really, really bad.

And said pitchers keep getting opportunities in close games

But why? MLB only records standings in “wins” and “losses”. There are no bonuses for series wins.

Yeah but Hudson is still in front of Elvin for me

I would assume it’s no more complicated than trying to get a few players 2 days off in a row. Contreras 3 for 23 in May, Turang coming off an illness. Frelick knee injury etc.

I'm not sure ... I'm not a Murph fan ... his in game decision making is as bad as any manager I recall

I'm aware that he won NL Manager of the Year in 2024 ... that said, my previous statement is accurate - he is not good at in game decision making

At least you’re being honest stating that you don’t like Murphy and working backwards from there.

But even if his in game decision-making was that bad (I don’t even know if there’s a way to score that objectively) what’s the aggregate result?  Murphy could push every wrong button and they could win 10 to 0, conversely he could push every right button and they lose 0 to 3 anyways.

The bases have been empty for most at bats in this game.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
