Thurs. 5/29 - Big-League Brewers Off, so Visit for This Six-Pack (Two for Biloxi)

Ugh. And Stiven Cruz gets the first two batters out then double, walk, single, walk bases loaded and one run in.  C’mon let’s end it here and get some runs Shuckers. Man they have been quiet this week

Posted

Birchard walks a run in

And Cruz gives up another 2 out hit for a 2 run single. Yikes. Wheels falling off for Biloxi and Wisconsin.

Hudson back out for the eighth after an 18 pitch seventh and he gets a first pitch F7 and three pitch K before giving up a single to the third batter & it looks like its Vinny Nittoli time.

Four seamer was between 90.3 and 92.8 MPH in Hudson’s second frame.

Tyler Bryant comes in and gets the out. But it’s 4-0 Pandas. And this week 1-0 seems like an insurmountable lead against Biloxi

And Birchard gets two outs and tries to escape … but he walks the next batter, and it’s 4-1. And walks him on 4 straight. Birchard is out.

Figueroa can’t get that elusive 3rd out. Gives up a grand slam. Ugh Trats tie it up on,y to give up 7 runs this inning.  Ohwell. The TRats bullpen not having it tonight.

Man Shuckera are giving major 2024 vibes this week.  Wilken lead of walk. But Warren GIDP, then Miller Ks.

My goodness. I pick the two wrong games to follow at the wrong times this evening 🙄

Yeah, looking like an ugly 0 W - 4 L night from Wisco on up. Currently sitting on a 21 to 3 run diff for those four.

Wait, 21 to 4. Garrett Spain just homered.

Spain gets a HR. But the next three strike out. And Biloxi loses again. 0-3 against one of the worst clubs in the Southern League by W-L record. Yikes

Muddies gain a game back on Lynchburg. Lead their division by 3.5 G after tonight's dub.

I see RHP Stiven Cruz's mid May implosion continues. The Shuckers bats are ice cold to start this series. Honestly, it's an understandable regression given how red hot they've been for the past month.

What in the world is Quero still doing in Arizona?

Think they’re essentially treating this like spring training for him and building him up slowly.

He hasn’t finished any of his nine games so far (seven catching, two DH), though the last three they scored 11, 11, and 18 runs so they were pretty long games.

He also didn’t play for a few days between the 20th and 23rd so that might have pushed back his timeline a bit too.

Providing all the offense tonight. HR and a 2-run double.
Good to see him healthy and getting the bat going. Hopefully he will be moved up soon. But health is first and foremost, the conditioning and finally results.

I believe RHP Ryan Birchard would prefer to enter the game as a starting pitcher. Just a hunch.

Some people are openers, some people are closers…nobody wants to be a middler.

Ok, I guess Bette did alright for herself though.

Yerlin having an inning. He strikes out 2, walks one, 1 HBP, 3 (yes 3) wild pitches, 1 hits, 2 runs in. Last batter makes an out. I was hoping for the strike out which would probably be the most “Yerlin inning” possible (that would have been 3 K and all the walk/HBP/WPs). TRats need to focus on tomorrow night.
T A-Crew is doing ACL things now. Up 6-0, make that 7-0

Zona Crew keeps rattling off runs.

In addition to the aforementioned Quero two RBI double (Ibarguen singled, Black walked) we’ve got an Handelfry walk, an Ortuno HBP, and a two RBI Montero single.

Oh, but that’s not all. A Flores sac fly and Fielder RBI triple makes it 7-0 after three.

Tyler Renz with a pair of 4U3D innings (E6 in the 1st, triple in the 2nd) to open on the complex. Three of six outs via K.

Renz keeps cruising with a 1-2-3 third including another K and working around a pair of singles to put up a zero in the fourth.

Wenderlyn King in for the fifth.

After a shaky first outing he’s gone 8 IP | 1 ER | 5 H | 1 BB | 1 HBP | 7 K in his last two appearances.

& he promptly strikes out the side on 11 pitches.

Man the depth of just decent young players throughout the lineups at Carolina and Arizona is just silly. I doubt many of them are true prospects but it’s just cool to see entire lineups of teenage competence.

The really cool thing about the ACL Brewers is that the top 3 pitcher in terms of innings are three '24 HS draft picks who are pitching well, and pitching deeper into games. Renz did well tonight and joins Dubanewicz and Dorchies along with Mercedes, Tobias and Mercado as the primary starters/bulk inning pitchers.

The offense is led by a few DSL players who are trying to make a name for themselves in the shadows of the stars of that class (Made, Pena, Anderson) in Montero, Ortuno, Encarnacion along with Ibarguen who is hoping to bounce back, and the big bonus babies of Ereu and Quintana.

EDIT: Oh yeah some Fielder kid is there too. I think his dad played some baseball.

Actually talked about Wenderlyn King last night on the podcast that was supposed to come out today but will, I assume, come out tomorrow now (blame Jack) but wow what an outing from him today.

4 IP, 4 H, 0 BB, 9 K and 1 ER

Will be interesting to see if he gets the 9th as well
