Thurs. 5/29 - Big-League Brewers Off, so Visit for This Six-Pack (Two for Biloxi)

Wonder if the success and the usage of those late high school picks gives us a little more pull in the draft when it comes to signing.

Sure beats being recruited/transferred over as an underclassman.

The 2025 ACL Brewers season is just a tad more interesting than the 2024 ACL Brewers season.

Seth Meyers Bit GIF by Late Night with Seth Meyers

IF we see the DSL Brewers squads start hot we may need a new server farm to handle the heat comin' off these ML forum posts.

Actually talked about Wenderlyn King last night on the podcast that was supposed to come out today but will, I assume, come out tomorrow now (blame Jack) but wow what an outing from him today.

4 IP, 4 H, 0 BB, 9 K and 1 ER

Will be interesting to see if he gets the 9th as well

He ended up getting one hitter in the 9th to ground out on 5 pitches. Final line was 4.1 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 9 SO.

66 pitches, 52 strikes, 17 called strikes, 15 swinging strikes

That's good for 79% strike rate, 43% whiff rate, and 48% CSW

@Spencer Michaelis - look forward to the podcast. And I assume you have seen or watched him? Will you go over his "stuff" and projectability? His numbers look good as they did in the DSL, but wonder about a lot of smaller pitchers we have in the DSL and the lack of real movement in the middle levels of the minors.

I mean the ACL Brewers have scored at least 40 more runs than any team in Florida or Arizona. I mean HOT DAWG.

Coming into the night they were averaging 8 runs per game, just wow.

Went through his stuff. I’ve seen a decent amount of video with velo attached to it, but it’s obviously not the highest quality of video so it’s mostly an opinion based on watching that.

I just love that Pena's play keeps insisting that he's better than Made.

I would guess that Quero has a ways to go before he's "game-ready". Catching is a grind. The first thing I look at, too, is if the other team is running wild like the other day, or not, like yesterday. So much depends on the quality of that throwing arm.

Think it's dangerous to rely too much on the running numbers. Many pitchers at that level are downright horrific at holding runners. Obviously, there's not much else to go on currently, so I totally get why people are looking at those numbers, but I think it still just has to be a wait and see situation for the arm. We will know once he gets back in Nashville.

Personally, I'm guessing that's next week. Caught a full game yesterday for the first time and has started the last three at catcher instead of DH. I think another full game or two and he will be back, though still with plenty of days off mixed in when he gets to Nashville.

Hey Spencer what are we thinking about Braylon Payne? You think the injuries are affecting him or threw off his rhythm. Was the start to the season a bit fluky? Down to a 109 wRC+ now. The tools are definitely there.

I think the missed time may have thrown off his rhythm a bit. I think pitchers are adjusting to him a bit as well, now that they have a report on him as a hitter. He will have to adjust back. The swing is a little inconsistent right now as well and I specifically think he's opening himself up for some vulnerabilities on pitches away from him, and he will have to fix that.  But he's still one of the youngest players at the level, and some struggles are to be expected, honestly. Like you said, you can see the tools are definitely there.

Oh, certainly. But he's only nabbed 1 of 10 basestealers, not that the percentage matters, but if he's throwing a few more runners out, it probably means his shoulder is getting back to normal, hopefully.

It seems like him and Bitonti (and Made) are a bit too patient. Need to be jumping on the earlier stuff when it’s there to hit.
