Brewers at Twins; Saturday, June 21 @ 1:10 p.m.: Jose Quintana (3.35 ERA, 4.60 FIP) vs. Simeon Woods Richardson (5.13 ERA, 4.71 FIP)

Quintana has been hard to watch these last few starts. These 20 plus pitch innings are becoming the norm for him.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Old Bob Crawley said that Yeli would get right by the All Star Break, and yet he was roundly scorned like an empty bag of Bugles.

Good Eye Bob and Old Brian said Isaac Collins is twice as valuable as Garrett Mitchell just last week and OOOOH did I get some crap.

On too many pitchers, he either misses the plate or gets too much of the plate. With his stuff, he needs to live on the edges.

He wouldn't be a Brewers pitcher if it wasn't the norm. Except for Miz of course.

anyone able to track our ops numbers over segments of the season?

FanGraphs offers custom date range leaderboards.

The linked leaderboard above is from May 18th onward during which time the Brewers have gone 21 W - 10 L, 3rd best record in MLB.

Yelich (117 PA | 170 wRC+), Collins (84 PA | 138 wRC+), Chourio (137 PA | 131 wRC+), Frelick (127 PA | 121 wRC+), and Durbin (110 PA | 113 wRC+) have been doing most of the heavy lifting.

Contreras (124 PA | 102 wRC+) has been fine for a catcher but obviously below his typically high personal standard, Ortiz (101 PA | 88 wRC+) has still been below average but greatly improved from the 156 PA of 26 wRC+ he started the year with,

Turang (129 PA | 82 wRC+) and Hoskins (116 PA | 80 wRC+) have been the only real drags among the regular position players during this recent run and even then Brice has still added some value with his legs and glove.

Here we go again with Quintana and the lead off walk.

Yeah, almost always leads to trouble.

This outing so far for Quintana can be described as ugly, but effective.

That's the kind of thing that works until it doesn’t, so Murphy would be wise to have a pretty short leash with him when the 3rd time through the order comes around, unless our lead grows by then.

We know who you’re secretly rooting for this series, so we thought it was reverse psychology.

There's still plenty of time for him to go into a deep slump.

I'm shocked Dillard didn't run with this longer than he did.

That’s right hahaha

If we don't score then I'd favour pulling Quintana. As someone said, he's been effective but not sharp. Why risk it when we have a rested bullpen?

Quintana finally staying around the strike zone and forcing some swings.

Nice job but that was a lot of contact. Still, happy to be wrong

Quintana has that veteran savvy … much like Miley had for us a few years ago

Six shutout innings in a completely different style than Miz last night

Nice effort on a day he didn’t have his elite control on the edges early on

Well Quintana made it threw 6.  If he starts the 7th I hope he gets pulled the 1st base runner.

He looks done though the way he was talking in the dugout.
